One likeable character would be a great start.

Going to avoid spoilers, in case you choose to listen to this book, but my general opinion is as follows. Many people talked about the "many twists and turns," there were a few but I didn't find any that surprising, maybe I just read too many psychological thrillers but everything was pretty well laid out by the half way point, surprises over. Plus, you should always have at least one decent person in the story, even if it's an antihero that you root for despite their shortcomings, not in this one. Also, it was lengthy for the story and got boring at times. I kept waiting for things to get better, for the twists making the time worth while, for people in the book to at least get what was coming to them, but it didn't happen. I was so excited about this book after enjoying, "Dark Places," so much, but I was truly disappointed and would recommend that you skip this one entirely.

They did a great job with the characters, reading each so well. You could have known who was speaking without being told.

If you would like a great book with great characters and fantastic twists try anything by Lisa Gardner. "Love You More," was excellent.

Heart Shaped Box, same author, though I think he has improved since that time, similar supernatural horror.

Not entirely sure. I rarely have a problem with a narrator, most do a good job, even those whom others complain about. This narrator sounds like a 65 year old, lifelong smoker and makes half her characters sound the same. It was annoying and distracting and I kept wishing it was anyone but her.

I really enjoyed the story as a whole, it was so much fun, I listened as much and as often as I could, aside from the narrator, definitely worth the credit!

In a word, boring, if I was reading it, instead of listening while doing other things, I wouldn't have even bothered to finish it. I expected suspense and entertainment but what I got was a slow moving coming of age story that ends in game of Hide and Seek (the last hour and a half). Yes, their are games played throughout but they aren't really the suspenseful, entertaining kind. If you are looking for an edge of your seat thriller, look elsewhere. I do like thought provoking suspense but this wasn't even that. Don't waste your time on this one, even if is only five and a half hours.
