This is my favorite King Novel. When you love a story, it makes it easier to enjoy the audiobook. I have read The Stand several times, I have the mini-series on DVD, and I have listened to it twice.
Although there are a number of apocalypse novels, I'd recommend Alas Babylon, The Earth Abides, and the S.M.Stirling series. Although my recommendations don't have a supernatural feel to them, The Stand is a good blend of supernatural and survival.
Several jump out at me.
Too long, but I wanted to.
No, but close.
When Jack Torrance walks into the ballroom and finds it full of partiers for the first time. King described this very well, and Scott was equal to the written word.
Scott grew on me as I listened to the story. I thought he did a good job of easing the reader into the evil within the Overlook Hotel and then ratcheting up the horror.
This might be a weird answer, but the Overlook Hotel itself. The Overlook Hotel was an evil entity which gained power as it led more and more weak people into doing horrible things.
