For decades we have been taught that fat is bad for us, carbohydrates better, and that the key to a healthy weight is eating less and exercising more. Yet despite this advice, we have seen unprecedented epidemics of obesity and diabetes. Taubes argues that the problem lies in refined carbohydrates, like white flour, easily digested starches, and sugars, and that the key to good health is the kind of calories we take in, not the number.

Would you listen to Good Calories, Bad Calories again? Why?

Yes. The simplicity with which the author sorts through the vast information and misinformation about food, diet and health and how those things interact makes me feel like I have had a veil pulled off my eyes.

What did you like best about this story?

I have always had a big sweet-tooth and the information in this book has made me look at my beloved sweets in a whole new light. That has been the most life-changing thing. I ACTUALLY ENJOY FOOD AND EATING MORE NOW THAT I HAVE READ THIS BOOK.

    Any additional comments?

Keep listening. I know it is long, but some of the best information comes in the middle and latter part of the book. But the beginning is great too, so don't skip over it.

The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history—how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. If you want to know the full story of what John Wilkes Booth did and why, then this is the book to read.

Which character – as performed by Bill O'Reilly – was your favorite?

Books read by the author always seem to have a richness that others can lack. The author knows exactly how each word should be read and I feel like I get more out of the book when that is the case.
