Now at last Keith Richards pauses to tell his story in the most anticipated autobiography in decades. And what a story! Listening obsessively to Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters records in a coldwater flat with Mick Jagger and Brian Jones, building a sound and a band out of music they loved. Finding fame and success as a bad-boy band, only to find themselves challenged by authorities everywhere....

Keef, you've written a brutally honest, funny, and at times soul baring memoir! In case any disappointed reviewers here have been living under a rock, The Rolling Stones is a "bad boy" band -- and they're proud of it. Drugs, sex, self-indulgence, crude & rowdy behavior... would you expect anything less from Keith's autobiography? The Stones music was a huge part of the soundtrack of my youth, and hearing their history from Keith's point of view has been so much fun. Joe Hurley put the British spin on Keith's already colorful language. What a gas, gas, gas!

England, 1959: Laurel Nicolson is 16 years old, dreaming alone in her childhood tree house during a family celebration at their home, Green Acres Farm. She spies a stranger coming up the long road to the farm and then observes her mother, Dorothy, speaking to him. And then she witnesses a crime.

    no

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

Just an awesome story, loved the characters and the mystery involved!

On a soft summer night in Vermont, twelve-year-old Lisa went into the woods behind her house and never came out again. Before she disappeared, she told her little brother, Sam, about a door that led to a magical place where she would meet the King of the Fairies and become his queen.

A great yarn, an eerie page-turner that's right on the mark. I have made the mistake of listening mainly to so-called intellectual type books -- the types often picked by book clubs (though I'm not in a book club myself). A lot of those books really are worthwhile, but I'm glad I took the plunge and got the chance to enjoy a truly fun thriller that didn't want it to end! Get this book if you like a little fright & mystery.

When high-school teacher Caelum Quirk and his wife, Maureen, move to Littleton, Colorado, they both get jobs at Columbine High School. In April 1999, while Caelum is away, Maureen finds herself in the library at Columbine, cowering in a cabinet and expecting to be killed. Miraculously, she survives. But when Caelum and Maureen flee to an illusion of safety on the Quirk family's Connecticut farm, they discover that the effects of chaos are not easily put right.

What started as an interesting fictional story about the Columbine tragedy, started to meander and was complicated by a long & tedious family history of the main character. That family history was necessary to bring the story together at the end but could have been cut WAAAAY down. I found myself half listening to those parts. And the family history parts were made even more tedious, because they were written in the manner of long ago, with never-ending, overly polite descriptions of every detail. I was glad when I finished it.

When Rhonda was a child - abandoned and ignored by his mother; abused and misguided by his mother's boyfriend - he imagined the rooms of his home drifting apart from one another like separating continents. Years later, after an embarassing episode as an adult, Rhonda's inner-child appears, leading him to a trapdoor in the bottom of a dumpster behind a taqueria that will force him to finally confront his troubled past.

The book simply stinks. Not everything has to be a nicey-nicey feel-good book. I like serious, and sometimes dark stories, but this just was not compelling. Sad things happened to main character, but it was hard for me to like him nevertheless. The rest of the characters were completely uninteresting & unlikeable. The story just never got better. At a little more than halfway through I realized I was wasting my time. Good luck if you download it.

Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words - and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the "Great Perhaps." Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.

Looking for Alaska brilliantly chronicles the indelible impact one life can have on another.

This book was real, hilarious, gritty, soulful and touching in so many ways. I agree with the other people here. A great read for young adults -- and great for the rest of us, who have known these characters in one form or another, both in school and throughout life. Don't miss this one!

Living the life of your dreams isn't just about dreaming. It's also about living: following your impulses, turning over every stone, and stepping out into the world so that the wind can catch your sails. To those in the know, it's as if your dreams paint the picture and the Universe stands ready to bring it to life. Choose Them Wisely is filled with the same inspirational messages from "the Universe" that made the Notes from the Universe trilogy so popular, but the thoughts have been expanded.
