"Wow!"
After listening to Bryce Courtenay (sp) I didn't think that stories from down under could get any better. I am happy that I was so wrong. I dove head first into the blistering world of Bombay, India and all of the trials and hardships that come with the territory. This book has occupied the last 4 weeks of my life and I am all the better for it. It has changed my opinion of the Indian people and added another author to my FAVORITE list. Humprey Bower is a superb reader and performer and I've paid for my 4th platinum membership with this winner. I listen to a lot of books and this is one of the best. Your collection will be the better for it.
"All roads lead to Amber"
The story is compelling and fascinating. I love the transitions between the different worlds and the way Zelazny worded them.
I cannot think of a comparison that equals these first five books. They are of themselves a very good body of work.
Corwin of course. He rocks
I named my youngest daughter Amber and would have named a boy Corwin. How's that for extreme? My wife and I both enjoyed the Amber series maybe a bit too much, but what a great escape from this world.
A must listen. And I listen to a lot of books.
"Go Pendergast Go!"
Really good listen.
Fever Dream. It is detailed and very articulate and the story take FBI agent Pendergast to a new level.
He is very good at voices with different characters.
It is kind of long with the unabridged version, but enjoyable every minute.
"Great story and entertaining listen"
I really enjoyed Scott Bricks portrayal of the charactors. Readers will not have the benefit of his expertise.
John Coreys humor is without measure and very dry.
John Corey
I really enjoyed the time they spent at the Point and all of the descriptions of their time that was spent there. Along with John Coreys supposed fear of bears.
This is a must listen and a very fun time.
"King is the king."
I read this book when it originally came out and it was so long that I skimmed near the end. So this listening is almost like I'm hearing it for the first time. (Which I am, as I read it before) The story is fantastic and even though I'm halfway through this great performance, I feel as if I just started yesterday. Grover Gardner is the perfect voice for this story and his different voices for characters is very entertaining.
"Go Dallas! You rock."
This is a very good Eve Dallas story. I didn't figure it out until near the end. The performance was very good and entertaining and the story was first rate. I love some of Peabodys sayings and some of them had me laugh out loud. I highly recommend.
"Grisham does it again!"
A very entertaining listen. The reader did a good job and was fun to listen to. The story is up to JG's normal very entertaining standards. You always have an idea of how it's going to end, but not quite. Very compelling characters and great story line. Top notch!
"Very good listen!"
I like Mr Connelly's style to start with and have listened to many of his other works, but this one kept my attention the entire time and really fooled me several times. It was interesting, witty and the performance by the reader was spot on perfect. A must listen.
"Very Grisham like and very enjoyable"
I didn't know what to expect when I started listening, but was soon taken over by this marvelous story and could not quit listening to it. This could be my favorite novel from Grisham so far. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the plot didn't follow "normal" developments. I was very pleasantly surprised by twists that I didn't see coming.
The narrator did a great job with different voices which made the listen even more enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone and particularly someone that was against the death penalty.
"Great listen!"
Although I've not finished the book,I had to review this wonderful work. I love Mr. Grisham's reading of his work combined with his Mississippi accent lends a southern realism to the audiobook. Maybe it would be done differently with a professional reader, but I'm impressed that the author would even attempt to read his own work. Two thumbs UP!
