"Open and Honest"
These are touching stories, sure to bring both smiles and tears. You do not have to have read The Greatest Generation, this book is wonderful on it's own. The cast was fantastic and did a great job of bringing the characters to life. Inspiring. I enjoyed this selection and would choose it again.
"Wonderful!!"
Everything the title claims and more!
"Beautifully written. Moving and heartfelt."
John Lee's narration brings to life the little village where this title is centered. The interwoven stories of the lives of the varied people connect through historical events and shared human emotions. The words of this book are beautiful and the life Lee brings to them leaves a lasting impression. Also memorable are the characters themselves. Louis de Bernieres has succeeded in telling a complex tale without sacrificing the richness and fullness of his characters. This book is full of emotion, set in the early 1900's, it is a story of love and a story of war. It is about the birth of a nation and the death of a people. This book has given me insight to a previously unexplored world, and had me both grining and weeping. This is a fantastic book. I will be seeking out his other works in print and hope to see them on Audible soon!
"Sweet"
This is a fresh and original look at death and dying. The story is open and heartfelt; I admit I cried more than once. Keep your tissues handy and settle down with this one for a great 'feel good' book.
"Dissapointing"
I have never read a printed version of this book, and in hindsight, I wish I would have before hearing the audio version. I enjoyed the story, but was dissapointed by the dry tone of the narrator. I don't think I would purchase this title again given the chance, but I do reccomend 1984 in itself, if you have never read it.
"Frighteningly Real"
This is a well written, inside glimpse at some of the world's most deadly viruses. Vivid, sometimes gruesome descriptons and well researched histories are just two reasons I give this one 5 stars. If you enjoy a good scare (made more so because it is non fiction), you will not be dissapointed by The Hot Zone.
"OK....kind of a let down"
I was a little dissapointed in this book. I picked it because I am a fan of true stories, but I don't think I would get it again if I could go back. I was constantly let down by Frank's bad choices, and by the end of the tale, I no longer cared how things would work out. The best thing about this book was the narration.
"Superb"
The tale of the Wheel of Time continues in this, the second, book of the series. It is as wonderful as the first, and furthers the story of our young hero, Rand. The readers, as before, are fantastic, and bring the vast world to life. A+ and highly recommended to all!
"Wonderful"
I pressed play having no idea what this was about, and was surprised at how quickly I was pulled in. It's a touching story, in vivid color thanks to a fantastic reader. I enjoyed this one very much and would have to say it's a must read!
"Fantastic!!!"
This is one of my favorite books, and it was wonderful to hear the people and places brought to life with these excellent readers. It's worth the time to hear the unabridged version, as there are many details you won't want to miss. The only thing I think might be bad, is the lack of the map that is on the inside cover of the book. This is an intricate world, and the places can get confusing with out the map; but this is a minor thing compared with the story itself. A+ and highly recommended. If you get a chance...request the rest of this series in the unabridged versions. It's well worth it!!
"Insightful and Touching"
I found this to be a real eye opener. The point of view from the mentally challenged main character is somthing I have not come across before. The themes of trust and love are true to life, and it was touching to see how someone different than myself deals with these things. The reader was fantastic, and brought the characters to life. Overall, this one gets an A+. I'd quickly choose this one again.
