Tune in to hear radio's Amos N' Andy, the most popular radio series of all time. Join the comedic duo of Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll as Amos Jones and Andrew H. Brown, two Harlem residents who owned the Fresh Air Taxi Company, so called because their taxicab had no windshield! Enjoy the antics of George "Kingfish" Stevens, radio's loveable con man who would go to any length to get rich quick.

    "Truly Funny"
    Overall

These days in the vast wasteland that is television, it seems that we have lost our sense of humor. These days, situation comedies abound which are just NOT funny. For those who long for a simpler time...a better time perhaps, the old radio shows demonstrate that you don't have to be crass, gross or coarse nor do you have to make political commentary thinly disguised as "humor" to roust a robust round of laughter. As a former radio announcer I am keenly aware of the effort it takes to be truly creative when audio is the only medium available. The characters portrayed in these several hours are unforgetable and rightly so, because they are truly funny. These are marvelous slices of life from a time long past which give the listener an opportunity to laugh not only at the spoken humor, but the amazing vocal caracatures created by two comic geniuses. Properly rendered, sound can evoke very rich imagery. Where have the artists like these gone? I miss them. After listening you will too, even if you aren't old enough to remember them.
