Born in a village deep in the Cambodian forest, Mam was sold into sexual slavery by her grandfather when she was 12 years old. For the next decade, she was shuttled through the brothels that make up the sprawling sex trade industry of Southeast Asia. Trapped in this dangerous and desperate world, she suffered the brutality and horrors of human trafficking - rape, torture, deprivation - until she managed to escape with the help of a French aid worker.

This book left me so inspired that I had to find out if this sort of thing was happening here in the U.S./Canada like there in Cambodia. Sure enough it is, right here in our own backyard. I now work with a Non-profit organization, volunteering once a week to put an end to the child sex trade right here.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It's got intrigue, romance, twists, turns, a good amount mystery.I also appreciated that it was Fast moving, sometimes if there's romance the book slows down too much, but not this one.

This heart-stirring tale of a young slave girl, torn between her love for a handsome aristocrat and her faith in God, transcends genres with its awe-inspiring power and emotional intensity.

Has A Voice in the Wind turned you off from other books in this genre?

I didn't know there was a genre for sensationalized saucy christian fiction. But, if there is this is it. The sexual language and wording were explicit and uncomfortable to say the least. And the debase and gross detail in the violence was more than I could stomach. Children being brutally killed and eaten? It was too much. Even if that sort of evil exists or did at some point, reading about it in such detail just seemed.... unchristian maybe and disheartening? I don't know I wouldn't recommend it, I couldn't even finish it.

In the aftermath of his terrible war, Ender Wiggin disappeared, and a powerful voice arose: the Speaker for the Dead, who told the true story of the Bugger War. Now, long years later, a second alien race has been discovered by Portuguese colonists on the planet Lusitania. But again the aliens' ways are strange and frightening...again, humans die. And it is only the Speaker for the Dead, who is also Ender Wiggin the Xenocide, who has the courage to confront the mystery...and the truth.

If you could sum up Speaker for the Dead in three words, what would they be?

    Deep Compassion, Charity.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Speaker for the Dead?

In the end when the Speaker says something about how the only way to Know someone is to love them, or the only way to love someone is to really know them. Can't remember exactly but the idea was that, that we could love any person if we really knew them.

    Any additional comments?

I had no idea this book had such depth to it. I feel I have a deeper yearing to understand others, and love them. It really is a thought provoking book to say the least. It changed my view of compassion, and understanding of others.

I just couldn't get past her first thoughts being for her own wellbeing, like when she first fi ds out about the games. She valued herself too much, even though she kept acting like she put peeta first, it drove me nuts.

Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder - and that the killer is a member of his own family. He employs journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, truculent computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history.

I couldn't even finish it. I hear it has a great plot and gets quicker towards the end (it's slow in the beginning) but I couldn't get that far with all the sexually explict assaults etc.
