I use this audio often to achieve deep and refreshing sleep. It lives up to its claims.

I found the narration nearly unbearable. The words were dragging from her mouth as if tethered to a massive weight. The ethnic accents were laughable. The story itself was somewhat engaging but I wasn't overly impressed...

A must read.

I became completely lost in this book! I cannot remember the last time a book moved me in this way. The writing is excellent but the narration provides the icing on the cake! I appreciate the authors dignified portrayal of strong women daring to challenge the status quo. As an African American woman, it is refreshing to see the characterization of Black women from that era as intelligent and complex, not simply cardboard caricatures purveying the same ol' stereotypes. The story telling is honest and authentic. I cannot praise Ms. Stockett enough for her efforts. I feel like I know each of the characters personally and miss them like long lost friends. "The Help" is enjoyable on so many levels-a definite must-read!

Fairly engaging but too long. characters were stereotypical and stale. Steven King is trapped in a rut and is recycling characters and themes. I was dying to get to the end, not out of curiosity (the ending was predictable) but because of sheer exhaustion.
