"Pratchett's Best"
I think this is one of Pratchett's best stories - excellent characters, excellent story, lots going on but his usual insightful mix of craziness and satire
I really love seeing the young Vetinari in this book
Stephen Briggs is ALWAYS brilliant
Of course!
"As always, fabulous!"
Terry Pratchett never fails to entrance and delight me. Great characters, great story, pointed satire ... what's not to like?
Stephen Briggs is uniformly, consistently brilliant!
"Not his best, and NOT a great reader!"
I really enjoyed the Prism series, can't wait for the next book ... but I read them myself and didn't listen to them. I'm finding the Night Angel books to be confusing and not terribly well written. Although, the reader is abysmal - reading in an over-dramatic style that is annoying and doesn't help to clarify anything. He's tolerable once you get used to it, but it is a constant effort to ignore how annoying I find his reading style.
Though his voice is clear and he enunciates well, his style is very overblown - reading even the most simple passages with huge portent. Annoying.
"EXCELLENT, and fun"
The stories are incredibly creative
They picked good narrators for each story
The stories range from humorous to disturbing, and everything in between
"Sherlock is always a winner"
Patrick Tull is one of my favorite readers - I'd be happy to hear him read the phone book (as they say)!
I love Sherlock Holmes stories, so really the whole thing was great, though I love it when he comes in to Baker St in disguise and Watson doesn't recognize him.
His voices were stellar, as is the energy of his reading - he dramatizes without it seeming forced or unnatural
"A great Pratchett with a decent reader"
I love print books and audio books, for different reasons so I can't really answer that!
I love Death trying to get a job for the first time
It's very hard for Nigel Planer to compete with Stephen Briggs, the reader that I have heard doing most of the Pratchett books. But he's a good reader with excellent accents and if I wasn't a die-hard Briggs fan I would have been completely happy with him.
When Death takes his employer out for a dance party after her death.
"One of his better ones"
An excellent story with drama, pathos, humor, suspense ... all the good stuff!
I liked the darkness of it
Stephen Briggs is ALWAYS fabulous
"One of the best"
YES. I love Terry Pratchett's books, and this is one of the better ones.
Fabulous character development, excellent story, lots of philosophical conundra
"Brilliant!"
Brilliantly, wickedly funny
oh yes
Stephen Briggs is an absolutely fabulous reader, and perfect for the Terry Pratchett books
