Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The preaches are very nicely achived, and very well founded. The narrative and the passion of Rick is contagious. But I didn't like that at certain point of the book, little by little, it hints that the purpose of everyone's life is to live in the church, by the church and for the church. The book doesn't show a way to find your purpose, it tries to convince you that everyone 's purpose is the church.

Did The Purpose Driven Life inspire you to do anything?

The book inspires to take action and fix several flaws you may have in your path for a more spiritual christian life.

  • The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything: A Spirituality for Real Life

The Ignatian goal of "finding God in all things" eans that every part of our lives can lead us to God. The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything shows us how this is possible, with user-friendly examples, humorous stories and anecdotes from the heroic and inspiring lives of Jesuit saints and average priests and brothers, as well as examples from Martin's twenty years as a Jesuit. The traditional wisdom that Jesuits use to help other people in their daily lives is easily applied, but not often explained well to the general public.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is not a book for one sitting because it has a lot of point to think about and reflect on. Its better to take it little by little.

    Any additional comments?

In the whole, the book shows you how to watch thing from other point of view, in a way that makes you grow as a person and realize what is really important in life. The points are very simple and well founded, but sometimes not that easy to follow.
It is very remarcable how J. Martin reinforces his points not only on catholic belives, but also in other christian, buddhist and muslim believes.
The examples of people he uses makes you want to read several other books and biografies (I have done it already).

Jack Welch lifted GE from a conglomerate with a market value of about $12 billion to one of the world's largest and most widely-admired companies, with a market value of more than $500 billion. In Jack, the author reveals the strategies and philosophies that put him at the top.

Would you listen to Jack again? Why?

I would like to read it again the next decade. After 10 years of work experience Im sure it will bring a different view of a bussines.

What did you like best about this story?

The best part of the audio version is how Mike transmits the passion for the bussines that Jack Welch surely had. In several parts the book gets hard to follow because he is so exited telling what happened in certain meeting or in certain problem that he speeds up the story. But at the same time, is so contagious that makes you want to become the next GE's CEO

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This is not a book, is a conferece J. Maxwell gave, based on his book "Winning with people".
I recommend to read (or listen) the book, because this speach is a cut off version of the other book (with 25 ways to win this people).

If you’ve listened to books by John C. Maxwell before, how does this one compare?

I have listened several audiobook from J. Maxwell, when possible I recommend to listen to the books read by himself. He has the clear idea on where does emphasis is needed and where passion needs to be put on.

A Signature Performance: Elijah Wood becomes the first narrator to bring a youthful voice and energy to the story, perhaps making it the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent.

Would you listen to Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: A Signature Performance by Elijah Wood again? Why?

Elijah's performance is great. The way he makes up the voices and the accents in every character is awesome. The difference he accomplishes reasembling a fake british accent and a true british accent is payless.
For me, as a foreign audio-reader, the performace adds a lot to the already great novel.Though the whole bookk the wording and grammar is not scholarly correct (p.e. I says, you was, by and by, etc.), but in the context, the time, the place, and the characters is just an awesome and amusing cultural sample of american literature. Much more enjoyable in audible that the paper version.
