I'd like to echo the excellent reviews provided by the other listeners. I have one reservation, however.

The British intelligence services are uniformly portrayed fairly poorly as incompetent "tea swillers" throughout. There is no real acknowledgement of the vital work done by the British SOE or SIS in the theatre well before the existence of the OSS.

While I am Australian, I have read widely on the history of the OSS. In my experience there is at least a grudging acknowledgement of the assistance provided early on to the fledgling US service. A little more balance on this issue wouldn't have taken anything away from the story.

Should have heeded the advice of other reviewers ... but I loved the other books in the series so much.

I found the "grab ass" macho dialog between the military types to be a huge distraction. There was none of that rubbish in the previous books. I've served in the armed forces (Australian) and worked with a lot of professional US servicemen. No one talks like this. Reminded me of the Morningstar series. Annoying.

And what's with the main character's new name? I guess once the author dropped the journal style, the characters had to call him something ... but "Kill"? The initial reference to "Kilroy" back in book 2 was good for an ironic laugh (given the circumstances) ... but to pick it up as the name even his girlfriend calls him .... c'mon!

Remote 6? Almost laughable ... like a Bond villain ... or Doctor Evil.

I think that Bourne, if he in fact wrote this book, lost interest towards the end and wrapped things up fast to get back to whatever else he does with his time. It was all too aimless.

Only plus is the Narrator. Jay does his best and is clearly worth looking up for his other efforts.

This is an awful rendition of a classic tale. Don't waste your money. Narration to fall asleep by.
