    >The most decorated homicide detective in NYPD history, Dave Gurney is still trying to adjust to his life of quasi-retirement in upstate New York when a young woman who is producing a documentary on a notorious murder spree seeks his counsel. Soon after, Gurney begins feeling threatened: a razor-sharp hunting arrow lands in his yard, and he narrowly escapes serious injury in a booby-trapped basement. As things grow more bizarre, he finds himself reexamining the case of The Good Shepherd.

Would you try another book from John Verdon and/or Robert Fass?

    Yes.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The plot was creative and very detailed. The least interesting part of this story was the dragging out the story. It seemed it would never end, when it was obvious it should have ended long before it did.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

OMG! The narrators are terrible! Made this book completely unbearable to listen to. I was down to about the last 10 minutes and I wanted to quit! It just didn't make sense to do so after suffering through the majority of it.

What character would you cut from Let the Devil Sleep?

    Gurney and Kim!

Senate investigations and Justice Department accusations multiply as Mike Nolan, a Marine Corps reserve helicopter pilot and trial attorney in civilian life, is hired to defend the company from the criminal investigations and a wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the most notorious lawyer in America.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this book. It has a different plot from anything else I've read. It was well developed and had great details you might not consider in a presidential death not related to natural causes.

Who was your favorite character and why?

One of my favorite characters is the lawyer for the former First Lady. He was shady and intimidating. I also enjoyed the character portrayed by the private investigator for Mike Nolan.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I never particularly care for the accents people try to use in this case it was the french accent. It just sounded really fake. However, the tone for everyone else was perfect.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, not because it wasn't good. I just didn't have time. It only took a day and a half.

Catherine "Cat" Ferry is a forensic odontologist, a specialist in bite marks and the clues they provide. But while Cat's colleagues know her as a world-class scientist, she secretly attempts to manage her fragile psyche with alcohol, delving into the minds of rapists and murderers yet never allowing her own frightening past to creep into the foreground.

    Story
Would you listen to Blood Memory again? Why?

The narrator always makes a story come alive. This narrator was excellent! Her voice brought a certain fierceness to the southern girl, Cat Ferry. I am a Louisiana girl and the description of everything was portrayed perfectly. This story has so many layers and they are revealed in such a way that it keeps the listener engaged. There is honestly never a dull moment!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Memory?

I do not want to give too much away. One of the most memorable moments are the constant conversations with her grandfather. The epiphanies she has as he speaks, breathes, and lies!

What about Joyce Bean’s performance did you like?

Loved her accent! It didn't seem to over the top like some narrators. You can tell some narrators are clearly faking the accent. Her southern accent doesn't sound rehearsed. Very natural and pleasant. It made listening very easy to this southerner.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh, think, and shake my head at the depravity.

    Any additional comments?

    Great listen!
