I didn't realize I wanted to spend 8 hours listening to a dated retelling of the 2004 election, but apparently Audible thought I did. Thanks for the recommendation! It was great rehashing recent politics and hearing jokes about obscure political figures I'd forgotten about or perhaps had never heard in the first place. I stopped listening after about an hour.
Tina Fey is awesome. I want to be her friend. I want to have her follow me around and narrate my life. It was great listening to Tina narrate this story about her adolescence and other entertaining experiences before and after SNL and 30 Rock. I was surprised how honest she was about her personal life and people she's known. The second half of the book goes into a lot of detail about SNL and 30 Rock, so if you're not a fan of those shows, you might not enjoy this book as much as I did, but she's very funny, and a great writer.
Wow, I must be really out of touch or hard to entertain, but I keep hating all these highly rated audiobooks. This idiotic "parable" is a little too lifelike to be called a "parable." It basically spent the first few chapters reenacting boring meetings to demonstrate the importance of not conducting boring meetings. What a waste of time!
Is it just me, or is something supposed to happen in a book? OK granted I stopped listening after chapter 4, but there was nothing to hook me. It was just a stream of consciousness form a very intelligent dog, that seemed to be a vehicle for the author to expound his bland thoughts on life and what it means to be human.
