For years, Mitch Rapp's bold actions have saved the lives of countless Americans. His battles for peace and freedom have made him a hero to many, and an enemy to countless more. In the tangled, duplicitous world of espionage, there are those, even among America's allies, who want to see Mitch Rapp eliminated. They have decided the time has come.

    "Wonderful book - perfectly read!"

This was my first Vince Flynn novel - talk about a great escape while jogging in the morning dark! George Guidall is the best reader I've heard, bar none. I would even listen to him read the phone book! Thanks to both for helping me keep in shape!

  • Running Blind: Jack Reacher, Book 4

Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I have no idea. There is no one in my experience that would actually enjoy this Reacher book.

What could Lee Child have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I am not sure on what he bases his opinion of the FBI and its relationship with the military. I spent 26+ years as Agent and 10 years in the military, 3+ as an OSI Agent. I never met or worked with anyone even close to his negative depictions of FBI Agents. We had wonderful working relationships with the military, and I saw both sides. Of course, when different agencies are charged with the same mission, there will be some disagreements, but none even approaching his descriptions. I have no problem with criticism of the Bureau, but base it on reality, not some biased fiction or opinion. His dislike of the FBI is unjustified and over-the-top. Period!
A couple of other points - Ft. Dix is an Army Base, Not a Marine Base.
And, maybe he could reduce the amount of times he uses the phrase, " ____said nothing" - fill in the blank - "Reacher", "He", et al.

What didn’t you like about Jonathan McClain’s performance?

His renditions of the FBI Agents voices was extremely irritating - the proverbial "chalk/blackboard". They all sounded like a very angry Edith Bunker going through menopause. Even I, a retired Agent, started disliking the FBI! Maybe that was his objective?
I'm sure Mr. McClain is a very good actor, but he is not Reacher. That role belongs to Dick Hill.

What character would you cut from Running Blind?

Cutting a character would not have solved my problems with this book.

    Any additional comments?

This was my 5th Reacher. I'm glad it wasn't my first, or it would have ended there. I will try others, but not with Mr. McClain.
