This powerful and breathtaking novel is the story of four cadets who have become bloodbrothers. Together they will encounter the hell of hazing and the rabid, raunchy and dangerously secretive atmosphere of an arrogant and proud military institute. They will experience the violence. The passion. The rage. The friendship. The loyalty. The betrayal. Together, they will brace themselves for the brutal transition to manhood... and one will not survive.

    P. J. Benyei says: "Amazing book superb narrator"
    "Wow! What a story"
    Overall

Without question, one of the best books I've ever read our listen too. The language was artistry, the pace, perfect, and the unfolding friendship of four military school cadets, unforgettable. A deep and passionate masterpiece set in the great South.

A powerful epic novel in the spirit of The Godfather and On the Waterfront, Narrows Gate follows the lives of three men as they clash with the dangerous and seductive environment of a Mob-riddled New Jersey waterfront town before, during, and after World War II.

Vicki In Crete says: "web of love or web of deceit?"
"Garbage, worse than a B movie. Childish."

On a brisk autumn day, a 13-year-old boy stands on the shores of the gray Atlantic, near a silent amusement park and a fading ocean resort called the Alhambra. The past has driven Jack Sawyer here: His father is gone, his mother is dying, and the world no longer makes sense. But for Jack everything is about to change. For he has been chosen to make a journey back across America - and into another realm. One of the most influential and heralded works of fantasy ever written, The Talisman is an extraordinary novel of loyalty, awakening, terror, and mystery.

    Swad says: "Still Good"
    "Way too long"
    Overall

Way, way, way too long! To detailed at times to even follow the story line. If you're interested in a book with rapid development and quick rushes, I recommend that you purchase something else.
Don't shoot the narrator, Frank Muller is doing the best he can given the verbosity of this book.
