"more rutherfurd please"
I have just finished Princes of Ireland and even after 25 hours I am sad that it is over. Superbly developed characters are set into the context of fascinating historical details. This is my third Rutherfurd epic (Sarum, New Forest) and I enjoyed this the most. This could be because I listened to it only in my car and as I am in my car at least twice a day I got to listen more frequently than I would get chances to pick up the book to read, therefore the story is more immediate and memorable....(just a theory !). Please could we get other Rutherford tales ? How about London?
"Hmmm, who knew?"
An interesting argument.
Lots of intriguing and somewhat controversial ideas to challenge current thinking on nutrition.
He reads in a "no holds barred" style which demonstrates the author's evident frustration with the state of the SAD -standard american diet.
It should not be the only nutrition book you read but is definitely one of the great new approaches.
"Useful"
interesting concept and info presented by a great character....delightful voice! Like listening to an old vaudevillian deliver a lecture.
"very "relaxing""
Very gentle narrator with good background music. Some of the 10 minute guided visualizations seem a bit funny at first and they gave me a few giggles but now I like to listen to them as I walk and it makes my walks really relaxing. It was definitely worth the price.
"Learn a few new things"
I did in fact learn a few new things listening to this book. I found my self asking what books I would have chosen if I had to choose 12 world-altering books. I believe that this author has written other more "inspired" books but still it was a worthwhile, short listen.
"wonderful"
This is a BEAUTIFUL book presented by the perfect narrator. What a treat. Even though it is the history of the world in a nutshell and it was written for children, I found that it filled in or solidified some of the more sketchy parts of my general knowledge. The book was written a long time ago and as a result contains a few antique view-points which, on the whole, do not detract from the delightful tone of this work.
"Great UFO conspiracy fun"
I was "spooked" a bit by the beginning as the images were somewhat intense for me, but then the story really started up and I was hooked. I couldn't stop listening. A great adventure-conspiracy-thriller with tremendous potential for a sequel.
"love this author's style"
Another interesting book by this author. Not as engaging as Peter Paul and Mary Magdelene but nonetheless enlightening.Try reading "Misquoting Jesus" first, then "P.P. and M.M." and then follow it with "Judas".
"rule britannia"
Superb. Don't let the intro throw you...the book is absolutely great. It made my garden chores fly by !
"another Ehrman gem"
I love the writing of this american theologian. He frequently uses a witty tone to lighten what could be heavy material. He is able to present a wealth of information in a scholarly fashion and yet he never makes you feel you are listening to a lecture. It always seems more like a good story. I'm looking forward to his next book.
"three cheers for English"
This was a great listen. Being British and having a mother with a very "proper" accent and a father with a lovely Scottish accent made this book an even better adventure. It gave me a clear understanding of many of the odd terms and quotes and sayings which are such a part of our family. If you are from anywhere in Britain you will marvel at the reader's command of dialects both ancients and modern. I really enjoy it when I can learn a lot from a book and be entertained at the same time.
