Maddie is, like, so totally awesome! How can you help but love a girl who won't take "no" for an answer, loves to shop at Macy's and Neiman's and is mad about shoes? I have to commute to work and listen to books while I'm driving. This series has made my time in the car so much more fun!
(This review reveals the plot as set forth in the first 3 chapters.)
I told my co-workers I was reading a great book! This girl had lost her boyfriend, lost her job and was going to kill herself... but someone offers to buy her organs and gives her lots of money. Wow! What a great beginning. But by the middle of the book, I couldn't wait for it to end. Go ahead. Give them your organs. So sad. Could have been so good......
I thought it was going to be a sugary, brainless story... the kind I listen to because they reduce stress. I did not expect the plot twist. I didn't see it coming... but you might since you're reading this. I enjoyed the story.
So much fun to read! I laughed my way through the mysteries. I read all of them. How can you not enjoy a girl who uses her Macy's card to try to jimmy a lock (but the card breaks so the police know she was there)..... when she should have used her Neiman's card instead since it was already maxed out. (Poor girl! She found out her father used the same shade of lip gloss that she used!)
We love tennis so we were prepared to like this - but my husband was so interested, he made me rewind and play again if we missed a part because of outside noise. It has actual interviews with former tennis greats and is written in a light, friendly style.
I can't wait for each new book. The story lines are thrilling. I want more like this!
I liked the story within a story technique to see the events from multiple perspectives. It shows a strong woman with high ethical standards.
