I enjoyed the journeys to the past and connections to the present. This book was written in a way that gave me vivid images of the places where it was taking place.
The book, and its sequels, have a distracting number of mispronunciations. From the admittedly challenging Finnish "Hakkaa Päälle!" to such simple American dialect version of words as "rations" -- and many in between -- the narrator would have benefited from a bit of a word check
Yes. A compelling story packed with useful information.
The thoughtfulness and planning for survival.
First of all, there seems to have been problems during production that resulted in a tinny quality to the sound, right from the beginning. There are also faint sounds in the background, which as difficulty to ignore!
I was distracted the reader's accent and tone. Would have enjoyed the story more with a different reader -- and with better sound quality!
No. It's easier to digest in small pieces.
Please clean up the recording's technical problems and re-release. Thank you!
Too much teen age angst
Disappointed in the characters.
The premise is pretty good but the story arcs are too high/low.
This book and it's predecessor were creative and entertaining. If there is a third in the series we will get it
As I started listening I thought this might be a fanatasy genre. It morphed into a romance novel. OK maybe its akin to Diana Gabaldon. That is, enough story to counterweight the romance. Not this book, I stopped reading with (paraphrased here )
The Vampire said, "Close your eyes and smell this wine", in his best Oxford Don voice
the Witch obediently complied
The work that Mr/Ms. Bourne did was by-and-large both clever and fun. The "ending" led me to believe that either there is a part two (unannounced) or that S/he got tired of writing the story, There is no ending so don't expect closure.
I have always learned more about science from a well-contrived sci-fi book. The premise of this book and its following events lack any scientific foundation. Additionally, I had to restart the book because the events were poorly explained. The narration is good but the story jumps around too much without giving an indication as such.
I'm not sure how I'd classify this book, maybe marginal fantasy.
I don't recommend it.
Difficult to follow and seemingly disjointed. I never finished the first segment. Given that life is finite, I urge you to spend your time wisely; don't buy it.
