Jayne Entwistle does a fantastic job with the Flavia de Luce series. Both print and audible are great because I'd hate to see Indie bookstores go out of business so I purchase both and read along.
Oh to be twelve years old again! Little Flavia solves murder mysteries around her crumbling Buckshaw estate. She has a passion for chemistry and uses that to help the town Inspector and his men to get to the bottom of each crime.
Entwistle rocks! I love how you can "hear" the smile in her voice. She's absolutely perfect for this series!
Yes! If only I had the time!
Both are good. I like to read along with the audible version but Caroline Lee does a superb job reading this book. Looking forward to listening to all the other Kate Morton audibles!
I really liked Eliza. I don't want to ruin it for anyone out there but let's just say she's an extremely strong character that gives up alot for a few people who are really not worth it. I loved the fact that a fairy tale was woven into the real story and made you think about what was really happening. Also the fact that you really weren't sure what really happened until the very end!
Caroline Lee is a wonderful reader. The English lilt in her voice is just fun to listen to. I will be looking for more narration from her.
This is a very female driven story, a story of mothers and daughters, rights and wrongs, secrets and enlightenment. Besides Nell (poor Nell), Cassandra and Eliza both had strong stories. And Rose.....who didn't feel sorry for Rose?? I loved all the characters, even the antagonist! Wonderful story!
Love, love, love it!
Oh what fun!
Jayne Entwistle is absolutely the best at reading Flavia. You can hear how delightfully joyous she is when acting out her revenge on her sisters! Can't wait to read the next three in the series!
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is ranked very high among my list of audiobooks.
This is a bittersweet story of two young people during the evacuation of Japanese Americans to internment camps during World War II, shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Ford's characters come to life on each page and by the end of his story you literally have a lump in your throat. Beautifully written and wonderfully told by Feodor Chin.
Chin does a great job moving between characters. You almost feel that there is more than one narrator.
Buy this audible, you won't regret it!
