"Great Paranormal Series!"
I'm so happy Audible finally got book 2 so I could start the series. The author has an interesting take on shape shifting and werewolves that I really enjoyed. I know the books get even better and can't wait to start the next one.
I also loved the reader. Too often the reader and the material just don't work together, but this is not the case with this series. I thought lorelei King was perfect for the voice of Mercy, and she did other voices, especially the male voices, very well. I'm looking forward to purchasing the entire series.
Now if Audible would only get more of Patricia Briggs -- and Sci Fi/Paranormal series by other authors, too, I'd be so happy!
"I was worried, but I needn't have been."
This is a great book -- Mr. Sanderson did Robert Jordan proud. I look forward to the next two with eager anticipation.
"One of the best of the series"
I have to admit that book 10 had me bogged down. I started to think I was losing my mind because so many new characters were added in that installment that my brain stalled. I had to take a break from the series for a couple of months. When I picked it up again, I went back and re-read book 9, and rediscovered my mojo! I sailed through 10 after that -- and 11 and 12 -- well, you get it. I think everyone should reset the way I did when it starts to get overwhelming. I look forward to starting it from the beginning next year -- and keep notes of random characters. I can't imagine what it must have been like to write this series. It had to be a labor of love. It's certainly a labor of love to read them.
"Great Horror Novel!"
This book slowly but surely insinuates itself into your psyche, so that by the time your half-way through, the nights becomes a little spooky. I found myself starting at shadows and strange noises. Creepy and full of wonderful historical tidbits, I really enjoyed it, even the ending. Svety Gay-orge anyone?
"Kept me listening right to the end."
The story rattles along with all the finesse of a bouncy coach ride through Transylvania. I was a little disappointed by the awkward ending -- a somewhat overblown "TA DA!" moment that was a foregone conclusion ten minutes in, but I suppose it may have something to do with when it was written. Still, not a bad addition to the genre for it's day, and the narrator did a nice job -- and sounded the right age -- which was very important to the tale.
"Wonderful Story!"
This book was a complete surprise to me. I read and enjoyed the Twilight series, but let's face it, it's pretty trite. This book is so well written that it's forced me to revise my opinion of Stephanie Meyer. This gal can Write. I look forward to more novels from her -- and not just the blood sucking variety. Kate Reading is, of course, brilliant, and was a great choice for this book as well.
"Beautifully lyrical - a true delight!"
I loved this book, and the Feast of Roses, as well. It brought the Mogul Empire to life and kept me rapt for hours. The reader was splendid.
"The series gets better and better!"
A simple story well told can keep a girl up nights! I'm so fond of the characters that I'm already missing them! Not to be missed.
"Beautifully written and read!"
I so happy to have found this series. It is so well written and so engaging I know I will listen to it again and again. I highly recommend it to fantasy fans. The narrator is wonderful also. I'm only sorry there are only 5 books!!
"A delightful surprise!"
This series has been a great source of entertainment and I highly recommend it to fans of Sharon Shinn and Lois McMaster Bujold's The Sharing Knife series. I have listened from book one straight through to the end and it was very good. I really like the narrator as well.
"Not the best of the series."
While most of the series has lots of action, this book works to bring us up to date on where everyone is and what they're doing in the vast Jordan universe. There were parts I'm glad I didn't miss but can't think of one right now.
