A striking red-head, 20-something Jody is attacked and transformed into a vampire while walking home one night in downtown San Francisco. Befriending 19-year-old Tommy, Jody tries to understand her new undead life, but trouble finds her when the cops start suspecting Tommy of being a local bloodsucking serial killer.

    Overall

This book made me laugh out loud from start to finish. The trials and tribulations of a newly made vampire yuppie chic, who has no idea how to proceed. The many characters and situation are hilarious, made only more so for being set in San Francisco (where I live) with recognizable locations and dialogue that is as funny as it is plausable. Not to be missed if you like vampires - or laughing.

The Last Battle has started. The seals on the Dark One’s prison are crumbling. The Pattern itself is unraveling, and the armies of the Shadow have begun to boil out of the Blight. The sun has begun to set upon the Third Age. Perrin Aybara is now hunted by specters from his past: Whitecloaks, a slayer of wolves, and the responsibilities of leadership. All the while, an unseen foe is slowly pulling a noose tight around his neck....

This is a great book -- Mr. Sanderson did Robert Jordan proud. I look forward to the next two with eager anticipation.

In Book Nine from The Wheel of Time. Rand is on the run with Min, and in Cairhien, Cadsuane is trying to figure out where he is headed. Mat, who has been recuperating in the Tarasin Palace, is introduced to the Seanchan princess. Will the marriage that has been foretold come about?

Dan says: "What are you thinking?"
"One of the best of the series"
    Overall

I have to admit that book 10 had me bogged down. I started to think I was losing my mind because so many new characters were added in that installment that my brain stalled. I had to take a break from the series for a couple of months. When I picked it up again, I went back and re-read book 9, and rediscovered my mojo! I sailed through 10 after that -- and 11 and 12 -- well, you get it. I think everyone should reset the way I did when it starts to get overwhelming. I look forward to starting it from the beginning next year -- and keep notes of random characters. I can't imagine what it must have been like to write this series. It had to be a labor of love. It's certainly a labor of love to read them.

Late one night, exploring her father's library, a young woman finds an ancient book and a cache of yellowing letters. The letters are all addressed to "My dear and unfortunate successor", and they plunge her into a world she never dreamed of: a labyrinth where the secrets of her father's past and her mother's mysterious fate connect to an inconceivable evil hidden in the depths of history.

    Branden says: "Phenomenallly detailed..."
    "Great Horror Novel!"
    Overall

This book slowly but surely insinuates itself into your psyche, so that by the time your half-way through, the nights becomes a little spooky. I found myself starting at shadows and strange noises. Creepy and full of wonderful historical tidbits, I really enjoyed it, even the ending. Svety Gay-orge anyone?

This was the very first vampire thriller! Pure innocence becomes the target of age-old evil. Virtuous Laura has grown up in a solitary castle and longs for a close friend. Her wish seems granted with the arrival of a beautiful and mysterious stranger named Carmilla. A friendship develops but the brooding mood and sexual overtones mar Laura's happiness. Will she escape with her life and spirit?

The story rattles along with all the finesse of a bouncy coach ride through Transylvania. I was a little disappointed by the awkward ending -- a somewhat overblown "TA DA!" moment that was a foregone conclusion ten minutes in, but I suppose it may have something to do with when it was written. Still, not a bad addition to the genre for it's day, and the narrator did a nice job -- and sounded the right age -- which was very important to the tale.

This book was a complete surprise to me. I read and enjoyed the Twilight series, but let's face it, it's pretty trite. This book is so well written that it's forced me to revise my opinion of Stephanie Meyer. This gal can Write. I look forward to more novels from her -- and not just the blood sucking variety. Kate Reading is, of course, brilliant, and was a great choice for this book as well.

He is returning to finish the Fey invasion begun years ago but thwarted by the discovery that Blue Islander holy water was fatal to the aggressors. That stalemate has produced a wary coexistence, even intermarriage between royal families of the two races, but Rugad wants only one thing: total domination--and he will stop at nothing to get it

In the years following the invasion of the Fey, Blue Isle has maintained an uneasy peach. But the marriage between the Islander prince, Nicholas, and the Fey king's granddaughter, Jewel, has not brought their peoples together in true unity, as they had hoped. And worse, the firstborn son that Nicholas and Jewel had hoped would bring the Fey and the Islanders alike to accept their union has proven to be an empty husk of a child, seen by both races as an ill omen.

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow. Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time. Crossroads of Twilight is book ten of Robert Jordan's best selling Wheel of Time series.

While most of the series has lots of action, this book works to bring us up to date on where everyone is and what they're doing in the vast Jordan universe. There were parts I'm glad I didn't miss but can't think of one right now.
