Absolutely. There are more misadventures here than one can absorb in a first trip through this "mostly true" memoir.
The taxidermist lends a lot of credibility to the story. You can't make this stuff up.
You're not going to believe this but ...
This is a fun book to listen to on the treadmill or elliptical at the gym. It totally takes one away from the everyday life and sets up interesting and insightful conflicts. If you do not like lawyers it is high on the list of good reads. If you are one, well thats a different story. Good story and pace, not Shakespeare.
The family line in the story gives it some heart.
There is a Ninja like scene in the later third of the book that is Rom -Com plausible and risky at the same time.
Not a moving book, pure fantasy.
Fun summer or workout read, definitely worth the price.
I had no idea from promotional material that this was a teen girl novel.
Unfamiliar with the writer I decided to try the book rather than the series.
The writing is far to simple and the plot lines far too predictable for adult tastes.
Anything else, probably Heart of Darkness to shake off the simple sugar of this book.
All of them.
This is an unfinished book I will definitely return.
The engaging lead characters take you through obstacles we all face in every day
life at the office to solve a very complex cold case mystery.
Assad is the classic foil to Karl's determined and calculating police work.
Near the end of the book, Assad shows his true colors in a few flashes of brilliance.
Hard to stop listening to this one.
The action seems to move fluidly with this narrator.
He is a troubled character who always seems to do the right thing, even if it is not in his best interest.
The scene with the porcupine fish was very inventive. I had just seen two of these the previous day to hearing the episode.
No. the book is not moving in that way, it is more male like.
This book was so good that I want to listen to the entire series.
Hopefully the narration remains consistent .
Yes the narrator adds a lot to the story
Once one gets used to Serge Storm's character from other books, this one moves fast and in very unpredictable ways . (Just like Serge).
Any of the scenes involving Serge's "experiments" and his potential escapes.
To laughter, yes, emotionally -- its not one of those touchy feely books.
This was a GREAT book to listen to while on a caribbean beach with wind and water and fresh warm air.
No. More like Pride and Prejudice than justice and Jo Nesbo.
Yes. Unusual voices for the characters
Most of the slow scenes describing ineffective characters at parties.
Won't get fooled again
Fast Action and intrigue from Jack Ryan . True to life story and execution of the plot add to the readability.
Jack is everyman who falls into difficult situations and uses everything at his disposal to rectify matters.
Makes one wonder if the Super Bowl Lights Out episode was more than a simple power outage.
There is nothing more fun than a beach, free time, loss of ambition, imbibition , and a Christopher Moore tome. It is so hard to hold one's neck and arm up (old sports injury) and read a great work of literature in the blazing sun, so I plug in my ear buds and listen to that great fellow
The coyote gets to do anything he wants, and I mean ANYTHING. Don't we all want that, plus the supernatural powers. What a combo.
He took the work right out of my rotator cuff arm while recovering.
First read and given to friends in book form, with type on paper, it is still a great
Not only do we see an update of Dante here, we get to meet the denizens up close and personal. To paraphrase Walt Kelly
The part I tell everyone about is the visit to Satan's hunting lodge. To say any more would suck the fun right out of the experience.
Who can pass up a succubus ?
Thank You for Burning.
A must read for all who believe in hell, and a must read for all who don't. If you think you are going to heaven, you have another think coming.
I would love to see the movie, but I am sure only HBO could put this together.
