A series of horrifying events occur in quick succession in the same upscale L.A. neighborhood. A backyard renovation unearths an infant's body, buried 60 years ago. And soon thereafter in a nearby park, another disturbingly bizarre discovery is made not far from the body of a young woman shot in the head. Helping LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis to link these eerie incidents is brilliant psychologist Alex Delaware. But even the good doctor's vast experience with matters both clinical and criminal might not be enough.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The story just seemed to move too slowly. Some of the characters were just annoying.

What about John Rubinstein’s performance did you like?

The narrator was not the problem, the story was just mediocre.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not. Wouldn't be a terrible movie, just not the best.

The tragic story of Susan Powell and her murdered boys, Charlie and Braden, is the only case that rivals the Jon Benet Ramsey saga in the annals of true crime. When the pretty, blonde Utah mother went missing in December of 2009 the media was swept up in the story - with lenses and microphones trained on Susan's husband, Josh. He said he had no idea what happened to his young wife, and that he and the boys had been camping in the middle of a snowstorm.

The story is difficult to follow at times. I think it's a combination of the narration and the writing. It's just hard to want to listen to. I couldn't finish it. At least I can get my credit back. I've listened to many true crime books. This book was awful.

Another great book from King. I loved all the characters and the way the story unfolds in the book. I would have given it 5 stars, but I thought it was a little long and drawn out. Still a great listen.

I've previously read all of the books in the John Corey series, but they don't get old. I've decided to go back and go through them all again. John Corey is my favorite character of all time. I easily relate to his sarcasm and sometimes crude humor. A better narrator than Scott Brick can not be found. Great author, great performance, great story.
