Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

You can't get much better than Gardner. She is one of my favorite writers. I've read all of her books, and as usual, she doesn't dissapoint! Great who done it. Just when you think you've got it figured out, she throws you another curve ball. Thank you Lisa Gardner for consistantly writing amazing mystery/thrillers. My only complaint is having to wait for her next masterpiece.

In this first novel, we are introduced to suave, handsome Tom Ripley: a young striver, newly arrived in the heady world of Manhattan in the 1950s. A product of a broken home, branded a "sissy" by his dismissive Aunt Dottie, Ripley becomes enamored of the moneyed world of his new friend, Dickie Greenleaf. This fondness turns obsessive when Ripley is sent to Italy to bring back his libertine pal, but he grows enraged by Dickie's ambivalent feelings for Marge, a charming American dilettante.

I bought this book some time ago when it was on sail for $5. If I had paid a full credit, I might have been a little dissapointed. It was howeve worth what I paid for it. Although it is a little slow at times, it is still a decent read.

With this anthology, best-selling author Brad Meltzer introduces 21 original stories from today’s most prominent mystery writers. In Laura Lippman’s "Waco 1982", a young reporter stuck with a seemingly mundane assignment on lost-and-found boxes unwittingly discovers a dark crime. In Joseph Finder’s "Heirloom", a scheming neighbor frightens the new couple on the block with an unnerving tale of buried treasure. In R. L. Stine’s "High Stakes", a man on his honeymoon gets drawn into a bizarre bet involving a coffin, a bet he may pay for with his life.

Some stories were surely better than others, but I still enjoyed the book. I especially liked Karen Slaughter, Joseph Finer, S. W. Hubbard and R.L. Stein. Glad I gave it a try!

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions.

My husband read this book and raved about it, so I thought I would give it a chance. (In the interest of full disclosure, my husband has NEVER read a book through. Seriously. I read all the time and he just doesn't get it. He thinks that books are a waste of his time. He downloaded the book to his phone and read, not listened to, but read it in a matter of three days. I was so stunned that something kept his attention, that I had to check it out.) Unfortunately, it was not for me. However, I'm grateful that the book sparked an interest in reading in my husband that no other book has done before.

From one verteran to another, Thank you for your service sir, RIP.

I had read several of the other books in the series some time ago. I must have been at a different place at that time because I did not care for this book at all. I know it is a popular series and my negative review won't matter. It's not that the book or writing was terrible, it just wasn't for me. Maybe I got caugt up in the whole vampire scene several years ago, but I'm so over it now. I was thought I would try a different style of book, but I guess I will return to my mystery/thrillers.

With nothing to lose, Nate climbs back inside, confronts the robbers, and with his military training, starts taking them out, one by one. Scott Brick is my favorite, so I may not be completely fair, but as usual, he did an excellent job with the story! I can't wait to try out others from Gregg Hurwitz!

He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. In Brooklyn Bones, a crime of the past comes much too close to home when Erica Donato’s teenage daughter, Chris, finds a skeleton behind a wall in their crumbling Park Slope home. Erica - a young widow, overage history PhD candidate, and product of blue-collar Brooklyn - is drawn into the mystery when she learns that the skeleton is of an unknown teenage girl and that it was hidden there within living memory. Erica and Chris are both touched and disturbed by the mysterious tragedy in their own home.

I don't know what was more irritating, the story or the narrator. I tried to stick with the story, but I could not. In the end, I decided I didn't care how the story ended. I hate writing negative reviews, but I hate wasting my time and my credit more. The story just moved too slow and had too much filler.

Jones does an excellent job of weaving the characters together in the story. She gives you just a little piece of the puzzle at a time, keeping you on the edge of your seat. You really don't get the whole picture until the last couple of minutes of listening. Consider me a Holly Goddard Jones fan!
