"I listen again and again"
I love listening to Larry Correia's work I have every book in the Monster Hunter series. His characters are not average folks you deal with every day, but they're not so quirky that you can't relate to them either. The timing and rhythm of the story flows very organically and I anticipate returning to it.
Larry is obviously knowledgeable about firearms and comfortable writing about them, but I didn't feel left out of the loop even though I know next to nothing about guns. This series and also the Grimnoire Chronicles are books I return to again and again when I'm without a new book.
Oliver Wyman is a very good narrator and the voices remain consistent from one book to the next.
This is truly one of my favorites series.
"Light Entertainment"
I thought the story would be more serious with epic battles and serious danger, so at first I was not finding the story engaging. However, when I realized that it was written more like "The Princess Bride" than "Conan the Barbarian," I found my self unexpectedly laughing out loud at some of the dialog. It does drag slightly, but I enjoyed it overall and couldn't wait to turn it back on when I got in the car.
