A kingdom hangs in the balance as Quentin begins his quest. Carrying a sealed message from the Dragon King, Quentin and his outlaw companion, Theido, plunge headlong into a fantastic odyssey that leads them throughout Mensandor. Danger lurks at every turn: from the brutal terrain to deadly encounters with both humans and creatures of unknown origins.

    Story

I am a fan of Lawhead. Having said that, this book starts slow, almost glacially so. It then continues to drag for far too long. If one can, however, endure the ending is top notch. OK, it is a bit of a fairy tale ending, yet it is done with such skill and verve that one cannot help but look forward to more. Overall I liked it, but it wasn't Lawhead's best.

Cherryh is an extraordinary author, truly one of the best I have ever read. While those words of praise are deserved, this was the weakest book of hers I have ever read. It was ok. It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't great. One to buy if you are looking to see what happens later in the series.

One man in the Universe holds the key to the mystery of Flinx's past - and that man is trying to kill him! It is a strange childhood for a kid, to be adopted by the restless Mother Mastiff and raised in the bustling marketplace of Drallar. Flinx never knew the mom and dad who abandoned him years ago. In fact, his birth has always been shrouded in mystery. But Flinx eventually discovers that his unknown parents have left him a curious legacy - extraordinary mental powers that are both a marvelous gift and a dreaded curse.

This is clearly a tale of missteps and story that is shockingly well written. While Flinx is, at best, an antihero, he comes across as surprisingly easy to identify with. A solid addition to the series.

Paksenarrion Dorthansdotter follows her dream of becoming a hero out of legend by running away to join the army. Military life and warfare aren't anything like she imagined - yet she holds to both her duty and her dreams. Sheepfarmer's Daughter, Divided Allegiance, and Oath of Gold tell of her rise to become the paladin who saves a kingdom. In this new trilogy, Paks's former comrades in Duke Phelan's Company assume new roles and the story turns to follow their adventures.

    Story

This is a great continuation of this world, however, it felt like the author tried to follow too many stories, thus leaving a book that felt far from finished. I assume these stories will be addressed later in the series, yet one is not certain because of dissolute story writing employed. I look forward to hearing more of them in the future.

This is a great Anthology with most stories either related to Treecats or, in some cases, directly about them. This nicely filled out some backstory and is a solid book for Honor Harrington fans.

Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

Druid Atticus O’Sullivan hasn’t stayed alive for more than two millennia without a fair bit of Celtic cunning. So when vengeful thunder gods come Norse by Southwest looking for payback, Atticus, with a little help from the Navajo trickster god Coyote, lets them think that they’ve chopped up his body in the Arizona desert. But the mischievous Coyote is not above a little sleight of paw, and Atticus soon finds that he’s been duped into battling bloodthirsty desert shape-shifters called skinwalkers.
