There are so many puns, palindromes and lyrics I could hardly keep up! I would love to visit Mary's Place and have a round or two with the client?le. Don't start this in the evening if you have to get up the next morning - you won't want to stop until the end! I can't wait to listen to it again and may end up buying a print copy.
I have already listened to it three times!
There are many memorable moments but one I found particularly so was when her husband went with her back in time.
I've recommended this book to many of my friends. Historical fiction is one of my favorite genre' as is Science fiction. This is a great combination of the two!
I didn't like it but once started I had to finish to see what would happen. This book gave me nightmares! This is truly a horror story. No ghosts or slashers but more terrifying than anything else I've read.
Definite Must Read
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens - both create a feeling of sadness upon reaching the end of the book, I just didn't want it to end. The characters and situations are written so that I felt I was right there.
There are many parts where it sounds as if Ms Stephens was congested. That's the only thing that detracted from 100% enjoyment.
GWTW left me wanting a sequel and shaking my head in amazement at Scarlett's actions and thoughts. She's such a foolish, conceited and selfish person; I've known four-year-old children more mature than she. There's never a dull moment when she's around. She is the most colorful character but I found Melanie the most interesting, Ashley was pitiful and Rhett left me breathless!
Not only is this a romantic story woven around four people, it is a great depiction of Georgia before, during and after the Civil War. Now that I've listened, I'm going to watch the movie!
I was very quickly captured by this tale as I began to wonder if my late brother, had he been given the opportunity to work as a Reaper, would have done so. Being of Irish descent, I'm familiar with Banshee lore and was most intrigued by the characters Ms. Vincent portrayed. Upon finishing the listen, I immediately called my sister and recommended she find this title. We agree the ending was perfect and that there could easily be many more adventures for Todd. We look forward to finding him in future books.
I think the old doctor had a pretty good idea how his subjects would behave during his experiment and greatly enjoyed this short story. Gives new meaning to the phrase, "Don't drink the water." LOL
