"The dog rocks!"
I just finished this book and all in all it is a good book. Has a good story, easy to follow, and the narrorator is good. But to be totally honest, the dog 'Oberon' (sp?) alone in this book is worth the credit you spend. I don't know if this book was meant to be funny but the dog will make you laugh out loud! I will never look at a French Poodle again without laughing. (Not a spoiler alert, so don't worry.) I hope this series is as good as the first book, then I will not be disappointed.
"Twisting"
I have found another series to put on my 'always' read list. The narrorator takes some getting used to at first, the characters in the book seem almost haughty in the way they are read but you do get used to the way Ms Holloway portrays them. This book has been my favorite so far. The twist at the end totally blew me away and I am still not sure if I am happy about it or not. But I do know that I am happy with the series.
"Werewonderful!!!"
This is my first Molly Harper book and she is now on my favorite author list. This was a great book and wonderful to listen to, the narration is spot-on. I would actually sit in my driveway after I got home because I did not want to stop listening. A fun story with hilarious laugh out loud moments and funny, normal & easy to relate to characters (terribly grateful my Mom is not like the one in this book). I really couldn't get enough and did not want it to end. As I begin to start listening to the next book I am hoping with everything I have that Molly Harper will write more of these books!!!
"Cowboys & Montana.....(SIGH)"
As always Linda Lael Miller brings together perfection, perfect setting, perfect story line, perfect romance. I loved the Creed and the McKettrick series from Miller and this one fits the bill as well. Jack Garrett does an excellent job at narration, he just has that great 'cowboy' voice. Wonderful book to just set back listen and cuddle in on a good, nice, dreamy, rainy day.
"LEFT THIS IN MY WISH LIST WAY TOO LONG!!"
I put this book on my wish list after all of the hype about the movie, and then forgot about it. I was insistent that I read the book before watching the movie (and I kept my promise). But, oh how I wish I had remembered it was there sooner. This was a beautifully written book and was so in sync with the era it portrayed, that I was lost back in time. The narration was absolutely wonderful. I was just completely drawn into the entire story, laughing, crying, getting mad, & wanting revenge, the entire book was just so compelling. If you have not read this book, DO SO NOW -- DO NOT WAIT!!! You will not be disappointed.
"I am lovin' me some Wolfhound & Druid!"
I have truely come to love this series. The books are very well written and have great stories behind them. Once again, Oberon the wolfhound, keeps me laughing out loud and dying for more. The writer just has a great way with words & a great imagination. I will continue to read these books as long as he keeps writing them.
"Not the best, but...."
I agree with other reviewers that this was not the best Sookie novel, but I don't agree with how bad they reviewed it. It was alot of Sookie talking to herself/day-dreaming/thinking but that is who she is so you can't really knock her for it. I don't really understand all the other reviews complaining about Sookie going to Taco Bell, she only goes once and she is a some-what normal everyday person, she does eat food, she went to Taco Bell -- so what - get over it. I liked the fact that there was a storyline regarding the others in the town, not just all Sookie, we've heard so much about the others so having their stories in this book keeps the storyline going and not just leave us hanging on what happened to those we have come to know through Sookie. No there wasn't as much action in this book as there were in some of the others but there was enough action to keep the book moving. I wasn't bored with the book, but i wasn't setting on the edge of my seat. None of the Sookie novels have ever left me setting on the edge of my seat; they are just easy books to listen and follow along with that are very entertaining.
"Secrets Revealed!!!"
The good: The story itself was a 5 star easy. This is one of the best books in the series so far. The story uncovers some secrets about Rachel that was totally unexpected (for me anyway) but totally make sense now and I could see where they can be used and were necessary for the series to grow. Rachel grows up a little in this book, but her habit of doing the wrong things for the right reasons is still a big part of her.
The ugly: The only problem with this book was the narrator. Not that it was bad enough to make you want to put it down and read the book; but it wasn't good either. Once you get used to a 'voice' of a series and then mid-stride that 'voice' changes...it really throws you for a loop. The main problem with the narrator was the mispronunciation of words from the previous books. It took me forever to figure out that 'Pis-ca-REE' was actually 'Pis-Car-EE'. Then 'Ta-Ka-Ta' was pronouced 'Tak-a-Ta', a 'lay' line was pronouced like 'lee' line, etc. I understand that one person may not be able to narrate an entire series, they have other obligations. However, if a narrator has to change, they should at least listen to the one of the previous audiobooks to see how words are pronounced in previous versions. Also, her voice for Jenks was too high in pitch, he sounded like a Chippette.
"Better & Better"
I really, really like this series. It just gets better and better with every book. The twists and turns & ups and downs in the plot just get you and keep you on your toes. The narration is great, Ms. Gavin has become Rachel. If Kim Harrison keeps writing Rachel, I will keep listening to them.
"Oh how I love me some Brotherhood!!"
J.R. Ward does an exquisite job writing the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and this one definitely does not disappoint. This series is my absolute favorite and they just keep getting better and better each time. Action, intrigue, romance, anything and everything a reader could want and the narration is wonderful. Keep'em coming J.R. and I'll keep reading/listening!
"Good Read...Good Series..."
I am almost finshed with the 3rd book in this series and I am enjoying them very much. The story/plot lines are really well developed as are the characters. I like the difference in this series from other 'fantasy/otherworld' type seriers as there is actually a plot and a story and its not just boy meets girl, boy looses girl, bad thing happens, boy gets girl back. There is some romantic interest through the first 3 books, but it is NOT the story itself. Mystery and wondering what is going to happen next is what keeps you hooked on this series. Plus (and always my favorite) there are just some laugh out loud moments as the main character who seems to have it together, doesn't...always have it together...even though she's a redhead she can have some great blonde moments.
The narrator of this series is also very good, she really puts a voice to the characters that keeps you interested and also helps you distinguish who is actually talking, where some female narrators have issues with mens voices as they all sound alike, Ms. Gavin does really well.
