Sure, lots of suspense and plenty of characters to get into.
Finding out what faction Mom comes from.
I really believe her as Tris.
Which Would You Choose?
I have not yet read the print version, but was delighted in the telling by Jim Dale. This story is meant to be listened to. You will better understand why I think this if you listen to the final conversation in the book.
I loved being swept away by the circus's attractions. Each tent is so creative and artistic in design. The descriptions of the elements are so sensory and sensual. You can see, smell, hear, taste and feel as if you are in a dream. The artistic alchemy of paper, words, fire, ice, scent, and clockwork on a black and white striped stage is pure genius! Bravo! Rarely does the backdrop of a story become its own character so well as does The Night Circus.
I have not.
I loved the moments when Poppet's fire red hair flies about in the breeze in contrast with the starkness of the black and white. I loved the way Bailey can not resist her when it does. The romance between each couple is so sweet, so passionate, so Victorian.
I am certain to listen to this many more times. I can not wait to discover all the secrets of the circus that I have not yet realized. I can not wait to find all the hidden meaning and symbolism, and breadth of detail in the tents. I have become a Reveur!
I have gone over to the dark side. I am now for Team Eric. Spoiler Alert: I am going with the belief that amnesia Eric is his original human nature. Sensual Viking Chivalry works for me. I must admit I love the bad Eric too. He is such a beautiful bad boy. I can't wait to find out what is going to happen to Jason on the full moon.
I found this listen to be an enjoyable introduction to the history of the war of the roses. I couldn't resist looking up the history and family tree online after finishing the book.
Well actually I am still working out my feelings about the wife beating for her own good stuff. Now I haven't heard the other books yet so maybe I will find him so bloody charming that I decide to accept this based on his objectified features and sense of humor. Honestly I think what irritates me more is that for the entire first part I kept thinking Claire sounds like Miss Marple bedding a Scottish Forest Gump. Sorry Davina. I had a hard time picturing them as sexy young folk. Anglela Lansbury shags Garth (of Wayne's World). I finally found my way out of this by imagining that I was listening to my Grandmother talk about her "Hay Day". Much easier to picture them in the hay. But really I liked it.
