Since 1990, when Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time® burst on the world with its first book, The Eye of the World, listeners have been anticipating the final scenes of this extraordinary saga, which has sold over 40 million copies in over 32 languages. When Robert Jordan died in 2007, all feared that these concluding scenes would never be written. But working from notes and partials left by Jordan, established fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson stepped in to complete the masterwork.

Brandon Sanderson did an excellent job stitching together the remainder of Robert Jordan's epic fantasy legacy. All of the major loose ends are tied up and you'll be left feeling satisfied. I thoroughly enjoyed Sanderson's influence in the clever use of gateways. It's reminiscent of the creativity seen in Mistborn, Elantris, Stormlight, etc.

Also, the performance of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer is outstanding as always. I've fallen asleep many nights listening to these two and their skill has lead me to search out their other narrations (Codex Alera and some Tom Clancy novels respectively).

In short, AMOL was the perfect ending to an amazing journey. :)

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

The story, performance, and grandeur of this book is everything I've come to expect from Brandon Sanderson, Kate Reading, and Michael Kramer. If you're not familiar with these names, go find other work they've done. Each alone is outstanding but put them together and you get something truly special.

Rachel Morgan is a runner with the Inderland Runner Services, apprehending law-breakers throughout Cincinnati. She's also a witch, one of the many Inderlanders who revealed themselves after a genetically engineered virus wiped out 50 percent of humanity. Witches, warlocks, vampires, werewolves: the creatures of dreams and nightmares have lived beside humans for centuries, hiding their powers. But now they've stopped hiding, and nothing will be the same.

Aside from the alternate reality setting, the lead character makes me think of a female Harry Dresden. The lead is just a bit too concerned with her libido as well. The performance is ok. I've heard better and I've definitely heard worse.

The story is very good but the performance made the book. You barely have to use your imagination to see the story.

In that first volume, we were introduced to the remarkable world of Roshar, a world both alien and magical, where gigantic hurricane-like storms scour the surface every few days and life has adapted accordingly. Roshar is shared by humans and the enigmatic, humanoid Parshendi, with whom they are at war.

The Words of Radiance was everything I expected an so much more. Brandon Sanderson, Michael Kramer, and Kate Reading are the perfect combination. Nothing else need be said in praise of this book.

Remember to keep an eye out for Hoid (Wit) and the Cosmere references.
