Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The Shining has always been my favorite Stephen King novel. I really didn't think a sequel could possibly match it. I was mistaken. Will Patton brings the characters alive so well. He is one of my favorite narrators anyway. If you've never heard him read James Lee Burke, please do.

Which character – as performed by Will Patton – was your favorite?

Will Patton performs Rose perfect! You can really imagine her evilness! Llllloved his performance of all the characters.

Award-winning author Craig Johnson's critically acclaimed debut Western mystery takes listeners to the breathtaking mountains of Wyoming for a tale of cold-blooded vengeance. Four high-school boys were given suspended sentences for raping a Cheyenne girl. Now, two of the boys have been killed, and only Sheriff Walt Longmire can keep the other two safe.

Dataman says: "Not Your Ordinary Western Novel (Series)"
    "Undiscovered Jewel"
    Overall

Craig Johnson is an undiscovered jewel! Folks, this author is gifted and fairly unknown. In 3 books he has become one of my favorites, right up there with Stephen King. George Guidall's narration is perfect - George IS the character Walt. Please try one of Craig Johnson's books you will not be disappointed.

Troy Phelan is a self-made billionaire, one of the richest men in the United States. He is also eccentric, reclusive, confined to a wheelchair, and looking for a way to die. His potential heirs, to no one's surprise - especially Troy's - are circling like vultures. But Troy shocks them all when he leaves his fortune to an estranged, illegitimate daughter.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a very moving story. Frank Muller is the best narrator ever. If you've never heard Frank Muller read you a story, you are really missing out.

  • Frankenstein, Book One: Prodigal Son

The first in a mesmerizing four-book original series, Prodigal Son is a brilliant re-imagining and updating of the classic Frankenstein story that only Dean Koontz could conceive. Two hundred years old, the "monster", Deucalion, is a monster no more. Literate and intelligent, he arrives in modern-day New Orleans, where he will join forces with a street-smart police detective and her partner on the trail of a macabre serial killer.

John D. Grote says: "CSI -Transylvania"
    "Great Listen!"

This is a great story! I can't wait for the 2nd book! The characters are interesting and there is good humor in the story as well. I definitely recommend this book!

Hollywood homicide detective Petra Connor has helped psychologist Alex Delaware crack tough cases in the past. And in Jonathan Kellerman's New York Times best seller Billy Straight, she took the lead in the desperate hunt for a teenage runaway stalked by a vengeful murderer. Now the complex and wryly compassionate Petra is once again at the center of the action, in a novel of cunning twists and page-turning suspense.

    Woody says: "Vintage Kellerman"
    "nothing personal"
    Overall

Nothing personal against the narrator but she is THE most boring speaker I've ever listened to. The story might actually be pretty good but it's torture listening to this person. I still have 5 hrs. to go and I will finish it but I will definitely check to make sure I never get another audiobook with this narrator.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Kapila says: "6 titles in the series so far"
    "Escape"

I love this book! It's such a wonderful escape from everyday doldrums. Ender is endearing!
