The narrator of the first 2 books was hit or miss, but this person was just horrible - very mono-tone.
There are also errors in the speaking where the narrator corrects himself. Why would these not be edited out?
Same as in book 2, there are so many specifics already introduced in the first two books I found myself fast forwarding to get to something new.
Narrated by someone that could very their voice and less repeats in details already mentioned in the first two books.
Disappointment in the Series
Just that I hope the next book is not put together this poorly.
I might, the story is interesting but the same storyline issues occur.
I'm usually hard on narrators because they can make or break a story. Mark actually brings a weaker storyline to life. So in my opinion instead of a bad narrator ruining a book, in this case Mark did the opposite and improved the story by his reading.
I suggest to those reading this book that the story concept is a good one, but go in understanding there might be a few storyline gaps that don't impact the over all story, but will be noticed.
Of course, the Star Force series is a personal favorite
There are gaps in the storyline and some interaction between characters just don't flow very well. I would suggest in future that this be improved upon to help the flow of the story should more books be written.
Mark Boyett helps make the book work despite some storyline issues. Anyone else might have impaired the book further, so I was pleased with his performance.
Not in it's current form.
Seems like B.V. was branching out into a line of books he might not normally write. So I give him good marks for another effort to please his fans.
The contents of this book should have been included in the last book of the series. The last book was short and very disappointing in my opinion. The background and content here could have made the last book more complete. Instead we have to buy 2 books to get 1.
I enjoyed Ray pretending there was a Mog attack to try and jolt number 5 into taking the war more seriously. Number 5 is that high maintenance person that needs constant praise to feel important - unfortunatley for the Lorien it didn't work.
I am number Four is a movie, but yes I think the rest of the books should be turned into a movie as well. The original actors should return.
The Lost Files started as an add-on to bring additional information to the story without turning the books into long novels. However, they are now being used to generate more revenue and the series is suffering because of it.
This book was very slow to get started, but picked up a little into the story. Therefore, I gave it an average rating since it almost lost me in the beginning.
Yes, so far I have not been disappointed by Paul's writings.
John does well, but he has limited voice inflecions, so some characters sounded the same. It was not too bad, but noticable at times when certain characters spoke to one another.
I like the Forgotten Realm stories. The Drizzt books have been published out of order on Audible, so that series unfortunatley lost it's appeal (it's hard to read a book, then go back). That is why I tried this series and so far I've enjoyed them.
Had I not read Steel World first I may not have read anymore B.V. Larson based soley on this novella. The book was short as I expected, but ended abruptly and the narrator could not make reflextions in his voice ruining dialogue.
No, just the rest of this series.
Yes, the premise was good, but the development was rushed and the narrator struggled. Combine those two items it made for a poor read/listen.
I would not have cut anyone, but there needed to be more development. Yes, it is a novella, but it doesn't excuse the struggles this story had.
As with the Star Force Series, I read the novella first and it helped me decide to buy the rest of the series. In this case, the novella turned me off, so I'd caution the author not to rush through these short stories - they may make or break the rest of the series for people.
The change in human society and how Earth adapted to a superior race forcing mankind to become indentured to a galactic confederation.
There are several characters that I enjoyed throughout the book - each had their own priorities and each went about ensuring their personal success and that of the Legion.
Mark did a fine job, good narration makes or breaks an audiobook and I was not disappointed.
I mostly read Fantasy books and was looking for something different - Steel World was suggested by Audible as something I might enjoy. I've not read B.V. Larson before, so this book was a new experience into his world of sci-fi that I really knew nothing about.
The book puts words to thoughts surrounding the polar opposites of Introvert and Extrovert personalities I've often thought about. The book is written in a familiar tone, making it easy to follow along and the narrator does a nice job carrying that ease of format into her performance.
The book has some nice thought provoking moments where you can actually visualize people you know fitting one or more of the examples given to illustrate specific topics.
Tamara has a good voice for books like this - since this is the first book on this topic I have purchased her narration made it easy to follow along.
No, but again it did provoke thought, which is what I had expected it would.
Good book about a topic often misunderstood.
I'm not sure after this short and poorly ended sequel.
The other books were much much better.
The was very short - the Lost Files seemed longer. It ended poorly in an odd place.
One of the better books I've read
Constant flow through the story line and not very predictable which helps hold your attention.
I'm usually underwhelmed by narrators, but Victor is an exception. He does a great job in this series.
Read the pre-series before this one and everything will make better sense.
I enjoyed how the video was incorporated into a book.
Same as above the story was simple, yet very enjoyable
The various voice and the inflections in his voice bring the story to life.
It a great book if you enjoyed the video game series.
