Many, many times. The narration was spot on and the story was just too funny and sad at the same time. I loved every minute of it!
I loved the humor. I was raised in GA so I really got a lot of what the writer was talking about and I LOVED how "little Peep" didn't stand for how her family and the town treated a young boy. She stood up for what was right. I was/am a lot like that too. She was a hoot!
How do I pick one. Each scene led to another and was either so funny or so heartbreaking to me. I ached for that young man and cheered Claire all the way to the end.
I got this book on sale, and didn't know the author or the narrator, but I thought thought what the heck. I was blown away by how much I loved both. I laughed and laughed and waited to see what that little rascal would get herself into next and how Claire and Rownie would come out in the end.
Get this book!
YES! Annie Green did a fantastic job narrating this wonderful story.
I don't know if I can pick just one memorable moment. This was a story of a woman trying to make amends for things she had done when she was younger and a man coming to terms with his lot in life, so there were several. I think though. If I have to pick one, it was when Kendra, a 5 year old girl spoke to Ben for the first time. She was abandoned by her father and her mother and grandmother had both died. She was living in a foster home when Ben met her and her twin sister, Pink. Ben had gotten her father back in the picture, and when Kendra fears Ben is going to leave, she talks to him. It was simple, sweet, and a tear jerker.
I think my favorite is when Ben finds out about Aubrey's list of people she wants to make amends to. Ben is on the list and Aubrey does not want him to see it or know about it. Ben holds it up and away from her and she grabs his shirt and twist his chest hair. It was funny and I found myself laughing out loud and rewinding to hear it again.
I think it was a concept that really moved me. Aubrey, and the town, feel that Aubrey is selfish and mean spirited person. But it seems to me that every thing she has done to the people on her list was due to some injustice she is angry about. I loved her. She is strong and funny, and has sharp wit. The best thing about her is her capacity to care hidden behind her bitch attitude. She is great.
I love a romance with humor. Jill Shalvis always gives a lot of that with her romance and I was so glad to hear Annie Green bring it life with spot on timing and how she took on the characters and made them real. She is a perfect fit for Jill Shalvis's writing style and I hope they pair up again with the next story in this fun and wonderful series.
I loved the secondary romance in the book. An older woman, who is a widow and really lost in life, lost in fear of being alone and unable to support herself, finds a wonderful man of her age who pursues her dispite her objections. It is very sweet.
I have read all the Laurel Heights stories. When I saw it was in Audible, I was so excited to hear the narrators take on the characters. I love to listen while I work and this book didn't disappoint me.
No I have not
There wasn't a reason to cry. It is a fun chic lit that makes you feel good and giggle here and there.
My New Favorite
I love the people in the book. They are crazy funny, caring, and just the kind of people you would want to know.
She has an amazing way of giving all the characters personality. She makes it like listening to a movie on TV. She makes it come to life
I hate this question. It is always so hard to do this.... A modern Mayberry set in Texas?
Another 5 star for Katie Lane.
Hilarity continues in the 3rd book about the Texas town of crazy and wonderful people. I feel in love with them all in book one of this series and I wish it really existed because the people are funny, caring and I know I said it already, but crazy.
I would love to go to the diner and sit and talk with them all and watch the chaos swirl around.
This book picks up with the story of a group of kids who have escaped from an abusive foster family, a rich hunky cowboy who is pretending to be just a big old good ole' boy using the trailer next door as a hunting lodge and a sexy widow down on her luck.
It is a heart warming story that is just too funny.
I am on my way out the door right now to get the next in the series.
If you like audible books, make sure you get this series. I have books 1, 2, and 3. Nicole Pool is an amazing narrator with great voices really brings this wonderful town to life
Maggie Wheeler does a wonderful job at narrating this romantic suspense. I really felt for Carly and could feel here fear and understand her consuming need to run and stay off the grid. The strength of her character and the sizzle with Zeke set the romance portion on fire. This book had all the ingredients to keep you engaged!
I was struck the most, when Carly shows Zeke the depth of her fear and the reality of her situation. The description of her terror was so vivid that I could see it, clear as day, and wanted to help her myself.
Maggie has a way of using her accents and subtle changes in inflection to distinguish the voices and bring out there personalities. I love that in a narrator. It had power where it needed power, gentleness where it was needed and tenderness where it was important. Maggie spoke in a way that I could feel Carly's inner strength come through in her sarcastic voice and had me laughing like she was an old friend. I feel she was perfect to narrate this story!!
When it is time to stop running and stand up and fight.....
I have always loved Linda Howard. I have enjoyed watching how her style has changed and developed, but this newest story with Linda Jones has been my favorite. I got my romance with a good dose of sizzle and enough suspense to make it interesting. I love a good twist to keep me guessing how a resolution comes about and these two were great at throwing those in the mix. This format even included some recipes that I can't wait to try. I love it when an author provides that to allow me to interact.
Finally, Sara's story! I loved to go through these stories and get to know the characters.
Sara is such a strong woman and I couldn't wait to see her happy. She has so much on her plate, yet did such a great job raising her daughter. It would have been really hard to do in a small town.
Devon. The little Australian charmer. He has such strength and personality. I hope to see his character develop in future books.
Kathe Mazur has been a favorite of mine for many years. I have read some unkind reviews of her work, but I think she has a gentle way that brings a lot to the people she portrays.
I listened to most of it while riding on the back of a motorcycle on a day trip with my husband. I was sorry when we arrived home and knew it would be a few days before I had a chance to finish the story. I tried to wait until our next ride, but couldn't wait.
I love Emily March, but her books under the author name, Geralyn Dawson, are REALLY my favorite. I wish those titles were available here as well. Hopefully that will happen in the future!
Just a good story
I really connected to the main character when she was planting the garden. I cried right along with her
I have listened to several Therese Plummer narrations and I really like the emotion she brings to the stories. I feel the joy, sadness or whatever right along with her.
These characters were just a hoot! I loved the first book in this series and just kept smiling, but this was even funnier! The reader made it even better! I was really glad to see that it was the same reader from the first book and the voices were the same. She is great! I will get every Katie Lane book out there for sure!!!!
Sherlene. She was caring, yet you never knew what she would do next. She really made me laugh.
There is one part in the book when you see Colt and Hope as teenagers and get a real feel for their relationship and how long it has been in the making. I won't give it away, but I did have tears.
The town of Bramble is a mess. The people are crazy, but have enough love for each other, their town, the country and of course football to fill the heavens. I wish I could live there. They are just plain good people.
