  • Lover Unbound, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 5

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By J.R. Ward
    • Narrated By Jim Frangione

Suffering a horrific childhood as the son of a Bloodletter in his father's war camp, Vishous pledges death to members of the vampire-hunting Lessening Society. Vishous knows no love. He feels no emotion. He lives only to oppose the slayers. But after suffering a mortal wound, a human surgeon named Dr. Jane Whitcomb tends to him. Her ministrations, however, extend beyond his physical injury - and before long her tender hand has awakened feelings of pleasure that Vishous never dreamed existed.

cmclien says: "Being the bloodletters son says it all..."
    "Please read this book"

The narrator killed this one. I bought this audiobook on sale because I just wanted to hear my second fav again. Jim Frangione is a great narrator but not for the BDB. His voice has a nice smooth sound but the slang of the BDB just does not sound right coming out of his mouth. The story is great and it's hot as hell but it's definently better read than listened too.

  • Theft of Swords: Riyria Revelations, Volume 1

    • UNABRIDGED (22 hrs and 37 mins)
    • By Michael J. Sullivan
    • Narrated By Tim Gerard Reynolds
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Acclaimed author Michael J. Sullivan created instant best sellers with his spellbinding Riyria Revelations series. This first volume introduces Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater, two enterprising thieves who end up running for their lives when they’re framed for the death of the king. Trapped in a conspiracy bigger than they can imagine, their only hope is unraveling an ancient mystery - before it’s too late.

AudioAddict says: "And I didn't think I liked fantasies..."
"Slow beginning, but doesn't slow down again"
Where does Theft of Swords rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely near the top, I look forward to listening to this series again.

What did you like best about this story?

Political intrigue and convoluted conspiracies. Feels like you're on the verge of figuring out what is going when a completely different explanation is given making the story that much better.

What about Tim Gerard Reynolds’s performance did you like?

Narrator was great! Some of the characters get a little confusing in spots but overall he did a very good job. Narrators are usually the kiss of death for me and Mr. Reynolds was very entertaining.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. There is so much deceit and plotting that you really need to take your time to ponder what's going on before getting more clues.

    Any additional comments?

This story started out slow while learning all the different characters and locations, kings and queens, prisons and towers and castles, bad guys and good guys, etc. Once I got down who was who and where they belonged I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.

  • Pleasure Unbound: Demonica, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By Larissa Ione
    • Narrated By Cassandra Campbell
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

She's a demon-slayer who hungers for sensual pleasure-but fears it will always be denied her. Until Tayla Mancuso lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor, Eidolon, makes her body burn with unslakable desire. But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her life.

SIMARA says: "A surprising guilty pleasure!!"
    "SEX, SEX, SEX"

If you're looking for paranormal with lots and lots and lots of sex then this is the one for you. I can't even remember what the plot was because everytime you turn around he has to sleep with her again. It was redundant and cheesy.

  • Lover Mine: Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 8

    • UNABRIDGED (21 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By J.R. Ward
    • Narrated By Jim Frangione
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown. Taken in by The Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was-or his true identity. Xhex has long steeled herself against the attraction to John Matthew. Until fate intervenes and she discovers that love, like destiny, is inevitable.

    Patsy G. says: "MMMMM WOW..."
    "Limp storyline and awkward narrating"

Let me first say that I was a HUGE fan of BDB before "Avenged." "Avenged" just seemed a little too sappy for me and "Mine" has followed right in its footsteps. Aside from the multiple plots (some of which didn't go anywhere, i.e. the haunted house, huh) between Quinn being completely out of character with Blaylock and Ward's attempt to sound cool by overdoing the slang that originally attracted me to this series, it took me FOREVER to get through this book. I don't discount the fact that it may have been Jim Frangione's narrating skills being completely unsuitable for this series. Frangione is a great narrator but not for the BDB. I even bought Vishous' story on sale (which I absolutely loved when I read) and didn't enjoy it because of Frangione. I think I'll wait to read Payne's story. Luckily I read a lot or this book may have killed BDB for me. I gave three stars because I see the potential in the written word but not the spoken one this time

  • Shadowfever: Fever, Book 5

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 57 mins)
    • By Karen Marie Moning
    • Narrated By Natalie Ross, Phil Gigante
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

Katheryne says: "I loved it, but its not for everyone"
    "Great closure"

Let me first say the narrators totally make this book. I really did not like the original narrator for this series but I was able to perserve. Ms. Ross put just enough southern accent in the lead without being overbearing and Mr. Gigante can purr in my ear anytime. Normally after so much sexual tension in a book it's gratifying to have the two antagonists finally put their petty differences aside and get down to business. This book left me drifting between loving it and feeling slightly cheated. After the explosive cliffhanger of Dreamfever, I so devasted by Barrens' death I was dying to know what Ms. Moning would do to make the story still as hot and interesting. The story was just as riveting as always but it just wrapped up so neat and tidy that I was left feeling... well, cheated. I still give five stars because I rarely find an audiobook I can get just as abosrbed in as a written text and the plot twists kept me guessing. I have listened to or read every Moning book and will continue to do so without hesitation. I'm waiting for my next highlander or another Jericho ;-)~
