The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Such a slow start to an okay story. I was looking for an exciting entertaining read, it was not this book During the last hour when all the stories came together did it get somewhat Interesting. Had to read it for my book club meeting or I would have never finished it. Actually, the rest of the members made a second selection to avoid completing it.. Boring waste of time in my opinion.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

It was slow to start but picked up speed middle to end. I was looking for something to grab me but that didnt really happen till almost the end. I would say it is one to read if you are a patient reader, certainly not a page turner. The performance was excellent, loved that part.

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

Lora says: "Enzo (because he's so wize) for president."

Can we have a 6 star rating on this one please!! This is written from the dog's point of view and what an excellent view that is! One of the best books I have ever read. There is so much more to this book than a dog story. It's funny, sad, uplifting, and exciting, a must for everyone that wants a book they cant put down.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Love, love, love this series. The charaters grab you immediatly. The story line was so good, had a hunch what was to happen but it always had twists and turns, I could not turn it off. Recommend these books to everyone, I want more!
