For more than two years, Miep Gies and her husband helped hide the Franks from the Nazis. Like thousands of unsung heroes of the Holocaust, they risked their lives each day to bring food, news, and emotional support to the victims. From her own remarkable childhood as a World War I refugee to the moment she places a small, red-orange, checkered diary -- Anne's legacy -- in Otto Frank's hands, Miep Gies remembers her days with simple honesty and shattering clarity.

Deidre says: "Thank you Miep Gies"
    "Fascinating story..great narration"
    Overall

I have never read the diary of Anne Frank but I still loved this book. You definitely do not need to have read the diary. Barbara Rosenblat once again does a fantastic job of making the story come to life.

New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon enchanted scores of fans with Outlander, her electrifying historical saga set in 18th-century Scotland. Now this sequel sweeps listeners back into the past as Claire relates more of her perilous sojourn there with her Scottish warrior husband, James Fraser. Twenty years after her strange journey back in time, Claire has returned to Scotland with her daughter, determined to share with her the secret she has harbored since her time travel.

Daniel says: "Finally! The unabridged version is here!"
    "Too many details"
    Overall

I absolutely loved Outlander but I am 20 hours into this book and nothing has really happened yet. The narration is outstanding but the plot is very slow moving and contains a level of detail that encourages the mind to wander.

Flawless story, flawless ending, flawless narration. This is one of the best books I've ever "read" my only criticism is that it ended the series and took Katniss out of my life!

  • Innocent Traitor: A Novel of Lady Jane Grey

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 14 mins)

The child of a scheming father and ruthless mother, Lady Jane Grey is born during a time when ambition dictates action. Cousin to Edward VI, Mary I, and Elizabeth I, she is merely a pawn in a political and religious game in which one false step means a certain demise. But Lady Jane has remarkable qualities that help her to withstand the constant pressures of the royal machinery far better than most expect.

    Jt says: "Superior listen!"
"Fabulous Narration - Jill Tanner, Bianca Amato"
    Overall

This is a wonderful listen! Jill Tanner and Bianca Amato did such wonderful work together on the 13th Tale and have completed other equally dazzling narrations alone (especially the P. Gregory novels.) I would recommend this audio book to anyone who is a fan of the Philippa Gregory novels. I am happy to have read them first because Gregory writes about the major Tudor figures who play such enormous roles in the lives of the more peripheral figures upon which this novel is based.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

Jan says: "What a great surprise!"
"An audio masterpiece as captivating as Roots"
    Overall

Before purchasing this book, I thought I would never again find an audio performance on par with Roots - one year later, I have found such a performance. These readers (and the story they read) are captivating, engaging, and bewitching. As soon as you get your next audible credit, download this book!
