An award-winning dramatisation of the first adventure in C.S. Lewis' classic Narnia series, with cinema-quality sound, original orchestration, and a stellar cast. A boy and a girl are tricked into using magic rings whilst a beautiful and terrifying queen escapes from a dying world. A lion, the Great Lion Aslan, sings a new world into existence. And so Narnia is born, and already dark treachery threatens its future.

I would certainly recommend this book, to any story loving person (be they child or grown-up). The story is compelling, the overall performance is delightful. The narrator (old man's voice) sometimes slurs a little (in words like 'ages'), the children's voices are clear and their performance is convincing. Very like all Narnia-audibles.

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

When Catherine Morland, a country clergyman's daughter, is invited to spend a season in Bath with the fashionable high society, little does she imagine the delights and perils that await her. Captivated and disconcerted by what she finds, and introduced to the joys of "Gothic novels" by her new friend, Isabella, Catherine longs for mystery and romance. When she is invited to stay with the beguiling Henry Tilney and his family at Northanger Abbey, she expects mystery and intrigue at every turn.

    Story

Hilarious parody on gothic novels: Austen takes her characters for a swirl, never once missing a beat, never once losing control, and afterwards sets them down (caringly, laughing with them, not at them) on their sofas. Juliet Stevenson reads it all with panache.
