I like Patterson and (think) I have read all his books. This was a good time passer and was enjoyable but don't think it is up to all the hype. I'm sure I'll continue to read the other books he comes out with in this new series. If you like very light, fast paced, I know what's going to happen next, books you'll like this and is worth the download and credit. I wish Audible let us give 1/2 stars as I would have given it 3 1/2, not 4 stars.

Grafton and Carmellini are back, battling terrorists on the high seas alongside a top-notch team of Navy SEALs in an action-packed tale by New York Times best-selling author Stephen Coonts. A luxurious vacation cruise to the exotic locales of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden turns into a nightmare for passengers and crew when their ship is suddenly attacked and captured by a band of bloodthirsty Somali pirates. An initial rescue mission ends in failure, and the decks are covered in blood. Unless they are paid a ransom of $200 million within seven days, the pirates threaten to execute all their hostages.

This was a waste of a credit. I have read all of his books and Coonts is one of my very favorite authors. I think this is the worst book he has done. The story was not that interesting and the narration was irritating. If you like Coonts, you will be disappointed with this book!

Homeland Security Secretary Catherine Blaine receives a frightening communication from a hacker identified only by the pseudonym Janus. The message is the latest in a series correctly predicting natural disasters around the world - disasters that, Janus claims, were manufactured, not natural at all. And, according to the email, unless the United States does as Janus instructs, another disaster is coming - a Category 5 hurricane that will hit the Eastern Seaboard and destroy the lives of tens of millions of people.

This written like the author just graduated from school. It has all the parts to tie the story together. Being a South Floridan, I found the total lack of hurricane knowledge very frustrating. Category 5 storms are NOT !20 mph. Other parts were also poorly researched, Also, lots of cliches; THE narration was very well done & saved the book fo me..

Jack Ryan has only just moved back into the Oval Office when he is faced with a new international threat. An aborted coup in the People's Republic of China has left President Wei Zhen Lin with no choice but to agree with the expansionist policies of General Su Ke Quiang. They have declared the South China Sea a protectorate and are planning an invasion of Taiwan. The Ryan administration is determined to thwart China’s ambitions, but the stakes are dangerously high as a new breed of powerful Chinese anti-ship missiles endanger the US Navy's plans to protect the island.

Lou Diamond Phillips is getting better with each book he nararates. He does an excellent job with this one. It must have been quite difficult, especially with all the Chinese names and voices. He did it very well. The story was very believable and scary, because I think what Clancy portrays, is Very close to how this scenario would actually play out. It is not as complicated with multiple stories as most Clancy novels. If you like espionage and clancy novels, you will love this one.

I've read every book in this series and have loved every one of them. This is the only book in the series that really needs preparation before tackling it. All the books in the series stand by themselves and this on will as well. However to to make complete sense, you really need to have read the entire series. It brings all the major/minor players and what has gone on in their lives that has brought them to this point. Ig Audible had a 10 point scale, this would be the one that rates it. DON;T MISS IT!

It is the greatest advance in American defense technology in decades - an attack submarine capable of incredible underwater speeds. Nothing else in any other nation’s naval arsenal even comes close. There is only one problem: A key element of the prototype is missing - and the man who developed it is dead. At the same time, ships have started vanishing mid-ocean, usually never to be found again, but when they are, sometimes bodies are found aboard... burned to a crisp.

I think I've read all of Clive Cussler's books and always enjoy them. Scott Brick is one of my favorite narrators, and doesn't disappoint here. The publisher's description doesn't do the book justice. I was expecting a novel about a submarine and new or future technology. Instead, it is another Dirk Pit "Super Hero" action book.. That would be fine with me if that is what I was expecting. It is non stop action and what One would expect for a Dirk Pit story. It just is not what I expected from the description.
