"A Classic but with a caution"
I agree with the other reviewers about the great stories and narration. However, I usually listen to books on tape while doing other things. Unfortunately, this book requires few distractions and I just couldn't follow it without stopping and just listening.
"Worth $7 but no more"
This was an "okay" Star Trek novel. Slim in plot and the amorous computer had already been done in the TV series and is annoying here. Only get this selection if you are a fan and have already listened to most of the other offerings.
"Classic Novel that is Well Read"
This is a classic novel that is well narrated. I haven't read the full novel so not sure how good or bad it was abridged. Not having this knowledge, this version is well worth the time.
"Maybe not the Worst but it comes close"
The book does rely heavily on sexual cliches. A woman unfilled and clueless, a domineering brute who some how is a turn-on, and a plot that once you take away a lot of filler verbage is fairly slim. It should be called "Revenge of the Envious Idiots." This is definitely a classic trashy novel for those who are lacking something in their own lives.
"For Original Star Trek Series Fans Only"
This is a good "Star Trek" story but not great. The audiobook is an easy listen and the story line keeps your interest but probably only if you are a fan of the original series. The story has no great depth, the new characters are fairly superficial and it assumes you already know the background of the original series characters.
"Not Just for Women"
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The story is entertaining and the narration keeps your interest. I would recommend this selection for both men and women. The only warning is that it isn't for the puritanical. It is more PG-13 in my opinion but the main character is very open about her life.
"A Hard Listen"
I am an avid Star Trek fan but this audiobook was very hard to maintain interest. The story may have been fine but I couldn't get past the narration. The narration made it hard to follow the story line and I found my attention wandering a great deal.
"Don't Bother"
The book is a series of stories related to the Gateways introduced in the first Star Trek series. The stories include members from most of the various follow-on series. Of these stories only one is good, another is okay and the rest not so good.
"Just Good Fun"
If your looking for great fiction this isn't for you but if you want to be entertained than this story has much to offer. Yes, you have to take large chunks of the story with a boulder of salt and forgive many plot devices. However, I enjoyed this novel tremendously and the narration was great. I loved the period aspects of the book especially the peasants against the nobles and just didn't care about the accuracy. There are authors that take much more liberties with history than are found in this book.
"Not Bad but Could be Better"
The story is an average cop after the serial killer story. It is interesting and fairly easy to follow. It has some good characters that are given some depth. The narrator is hard on the ears through the first half of the book but gets better. I would only recommend this book if you are a big cop after the murderer story lover.
