Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.

Shadow and bone is a little wobbly. I enjoyed the story and the narrator is very pleasant. My biggest grip is the ending. I would like half a credit back because I feel like i only received half to 3/4 of a book. It's lacking a GOOD ending, if this is a series the reader/listener should be given some element of completion. The problems are never solved besides maybe self revelation and I wanted more. Now I have to wait and maybe download the second book when it becomes available.

Is it a series? Is this the end? Was that really the jest of the book? who know's, maybe you will be able to figure it out.

This story didn't grab me from the beginning. It was one i had to focus to get into, but it did happen and afterward the hours seemed to fly by. I'm a little upset about certain things that wasn't resolved in the story, i'm not going to go into details because i don't want to spoil any part of the story. But it was a great story that i didn't want to end.

Danny North knew from early childhood that his family was different - and that he was different from them. While his cousins were learning how to create the things that commoners called fairies, ghosts, golems, trolls, werewolves, and other such miracles that were the heritage of the North family, Danny worried that he would never show a talent, never form an "outself"....

I debated over this book for some time whether or not to purchase it. Now, after completing the lost gate I've learned to trust my gut, I loved this novel. It was funny more than anything else, and i can honestly say my guess to how things were going to end was wrong. Also, there are two narrators listed but I can only recall hearing a male voice. Once again, loved this book and I have pre-ordered book two. ;-)

The Perry family's new house is perfect - except for the weird behavior of the neighbors, and that odd smell coming from a dark corner in the basement. Pity no one warned the family about the house. Now it's too late. Because the darkness at the bottom of the basement stairs is rising.

Did I mention this is a LONG and somewhat uneventful story. That being said it kept my attention throughout. I just kept waiting for the gasp moment or expecting more present day drama than dealing with past events. Good listen, completed in two in a half days. Although, the narrators female voice, at times annoyed me ;-/

When i started this series I never thought it would take to me Asgard, but oooo baby what a good trip it is! The stories within the story are great along with the narrators rendition of the charters. The series just keeps getting better!
If your like me and your at this point in the story it is not a question of if it is worthy of a download. By now it's just automatic!

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, doesn’t care much for witches. Still, he’s about to make nice with the local coven by signing a mutually beneficial nonaggression treaty when suddenly the witch population in modern-day Tempe, Arizona, quadruples overnight. And the new girls are not just bad, they’re badasses with a dark history on the German side of World War II. With a fallen angel feasting on local high school students, a horde of Bacchants blowing in from Vegas, and a dangerously sexy Celtic goddess of fire vying for his attention, Atticus is having trouble scheduling the witch hunt.

This was a fun book really making me wish it hadn't ended. I can tell I will gobble this series up! It had me chuckling out loud at work with it's not trying to hard to be funny punch lines. This story is unique for me because it was my first experience reading/listening about druids. I must say "me likes". Narrator was great, I loved it when played the dog. The story kept my attention while at work (I sometimes lose whole story lines while there lol). Definitely worth the money for a download (being that it is less than a credit.)

Dark fantasy goes hardboiled in Book II of the hard-hitting Grimnoir Chronicles by the New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International. The Grimnoir Society’s mission is to protect people with magic, and they’ve done so—successfully and in secret—since the mysterious arrival of the Power in the 1850s, but when a magical assassin makes an attempt on the life of President Franklin Roosevelt, the crime is pinned on the Grimnoir.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

After coming off my high from finishing book one of Monster Hunter International. I had been eyeing Hard Magic for a while, even before MHI. This book did not disappoint me at all. I loved MHI but I think I'm leaning more towards this series more because of the strong female leads. Great story, great acting... that's all that i ask for!

I haven't come across a 15+ hour book that I've enjoyed so much since Eye of the World. The narrartor is superb, I was grining from ear to ear within the first chapter thinking "ooooo this is going to be good". The battles are detailed and epic! I've read and listen to tons of monster novels this one still had me saying "didn't see that coming". Loved the entire book and downloading book 2 now ;-)
