This condensation of the book moves faster and is much more interesting for it. I love Edward Hermanns voice....he makes the book come alive.

The Government has bred 2 animals for strength, speed, intelligence and the need to kill one another. A single girl is being stalked by a nasty repairman who duplicates the key to her house. A man is going for a walk thru the woods and is stopped by a dog with unusually high mentality. The 3 meet, join together, and try to outrun the other creature who always seems to find them. Kept me up reading. Beginning was a little slow til they get the stalker out of the way.

This story is, first & formost a terrifying story of one mans ego changing a town into something unknowable and horrible. The cat & mouse between these "changed people" and the normal is very exciting, esp when an 8 yr old girl takes them on to save her life. Heartwarming when a detective, a woman there researching her sisters death and the little girl meet up with a paraplegic man to take on the Boogyman and his horrid, terrible henchman. I have re-reaad the book and re-listened to the audio book. Good science fiction that seems like it could happen. I loved it.

The story and the history of the snakes are both very interesting. I was riveted at the ending. I would reccommend this book to anyone who loves adventure. Plus I have been reading about others - esp mountain climbers--who do death defying jobs or hobbies. There seems to be a string of mental attitudes or frame of mind similar in most of them that is out of the main stream "norm". Interesting once you find that and can see that these are a different type of people that give us armchair adventurers just what we want.

I love the world of the Emersons in the tales of their earlier archaeological adventures. By turns hilarious and intersting, with bits of history that actually teach you. Emerson, the Father of Curses, and his wife Amelia are people I would really like to meet. Barbara Rosenblatt is an excellent reader and has become The Voice of Amerlia as far as I am concerned.

The story was ok if you could get past the parent/child angst, the old loves angst, and the racial angst. The narrator was so boring that I could hardly stand to listen --you would have to be pretty desperate to listen to this voice for long. I have listened to at least 60 audio books and this was one of the worst narrtors ever. I made it through 4 tapes and had to take a break and listen to something else to even be able to finish it. I could not completely buy the killers reasons for the crimes. The forensics was fairly well done.

The setting is a German museum, where our sleuth gets a photo of an ancient treasure in the mail. The envelope is tinged with blood and on closer inspection, the treasure in shown being worn by a contemporary woman....and our sleuth is off to a ski chalet in the mountains of Germany chasing clues. Followed by a known jewel thief and an unknown treasure hunter, Vicky tries to track down the ancient gold of Troy. She also has to worry about keeping her boss, a funny litte Santa of a man who fancies he is Sherlock Holmes, and herself safe. Amongst all this treasure hunting, we are treated to a wonderful description of Christmas in a small German town, and a variety of characters that are fun to meet. As usual, Barbara Rosenblatt is an awesome reader.

I love the Egypt of Amelia Peabody Emerson & family. The books are sprinkled with fact and fiction and the Egypt of that era is so totally pictured that you could almost believe you were there. I read the books years before the audio came out. I got the audio as soon as it was available and wore out the tapes. Barbara Rosenblatt makes the Amelia of my imagination come alive... she is the perfect embodiment of that formidable Englishwoman. I totally love this audio book.

I love this series, which is obviously cozy. This book is not only a good mystery, but moves the characters foreward in their relationships with each other
As usual. I enjoy Kate Forbes as narrator. She IS Harrys voice.
