At once a Gothic thriller, a passionate romance, and a cautionary tale about the dangers of science, Frankenstein tells the story of committed science student Victor Frankenstein. Obsessed with discovering "the cause of generation and life" and "bestowing animation upon lifeless matter", Frankenstein assembles a human being from stolen body parts. However, upon bringing it to life, he recoils in horror at the creature's hideousness.

    Tad Davis says: "Great reading"
    "Classic must read."

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The classics should be read by everyone at least once. I did like the book but not enough to listen to it a second time.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I didn't really like the main character or his friends. I sympathized more for the Frankenstein monster.

What does Simon Vance bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good performance each characters' voices where distinct.

Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words - and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the "Great Perhaps." Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.

Looking for Alaska brilliantly chronicles the indelible impact one life can have on another.

If you could sum up Looking for Alaska in three words, what would they be?

Soul searching fun. I did not recognize this book in my library, I had bought it for my teenager and forgotten about it. Once I started listening, I really enjoyed it. One of the few books that make you sit in the car a few extra moments to continue listening, even though you have already arrived at your destination.

What about Jeff Woodman’s performance did you like?

Very good each character was very distinguishable.
