Great narration of a great book. This book was one of my favorites when I was a child. The narrator's performance makes this one of my favorite audiobooks as an adult. Sophie Thompson's accent, voice, and reading is as engaging as the story. Extremely enjoyable and a great use of a credit.
I'm very glad Audible has provided this book in an unabridged audio version. It's a fantastic book. An engrossing, well written, comprehensive look at JFK's death. Reading the book is painful, as Mr. Manchester's writing pulls you right into the events of November, 1963. Listening to the book is a bit painful as well, but for a vastly different reason. The accents Mr. Barrett uses in the book range from strange to annoying to just plain odd. They add up to off-putting. This is a long book. It is worth listening to, but would be so much better served by a narrator that gave the book proper respect in his tone and read it with a more respectful tone, not the folksy narration of someone weaving an old yarn by the fireside.
If you are looking for a hilarious book read by book's equally hilarious author, this is for you. Those who enjoy Miranda Hart's work will adore this. As others have said, it is such fun! Very funny life stories and observations delivered in true Miranda style.
Miranda Hart's narration
Hard to choose. The book moves from strength to strength. Perfect. Hilarious throughout.
Absolutely one of my best purchases on Audible. The account of Poirot's discomforts in traveling in Egypt as read by the incomparable David Suchet was hilarious. I've listened to this one countless times.
Great narration by Hugh Fraser, however not one of my favorite Christie books so far. Not one I've repeatedly played as with some of the other Christie books. Just didn't personally find the "Peril" referred to in the title compelling enough to listen to again.
Highly recommend purchasing this recording. Hugh Fraser's narration is perfect, as usual. I'm a big fan of the Poirot stories and very much enjoyed this story. If you like hearing about Poirot's highly ordered daily life and his accounts of being made very uncomfortable in a shabby country guest house, you'll love this story. The mystery was quite good as well!
