I found the narrator's voice distracting. Plus the story jumped around so much with so many characters I felt lost quite often.
I found his voice very annoying.
The topic is fascinating but unfortunately given how complicated it was a clearer story line would have been better.
A Fatal Grace, along with the first entry in the Three Pines mystery series, is by far one of the best written, thought provoking mysteries I have read/listened to in the last several years.
I had my suspicions about who was responsible but Ms. Penny kept me off balance to the very end.
Ralph Cosham's narration was excellent. He gave each character a personality but he didn't over perform and risk undermining the beauty of the language.
I actually wanted to prolong the listening because I loved the characters and the story and wanted to hang out with the folks of Three Pines as long as possible. When I finished A Fatal Grace I immediately ordered the third book in the series. I'll be interested to see if Ms. Penny can maintain the high quality of her writing and keep me interested in the wonderful characters she has created. Or will she, like other authors become too formulaic
I especially love the character of Ruth Zardo.
Louise Penny's writing is beautiful. Her observations about life were revealing and throughtful.
The gentleness of the ending
His narration was unobtrusiveness. He didn't take away from the beauty of the words.
It made me smile a great deal of the time as Penny skewered so many of the pretensions we find in modern day ife.
The story was insipid. The plot was contrived and ther was very little to hold my attention.
The narrator was fine. The story was stupid.
I have read/listened to several of John Lescroat's books, primarily the ones featuring Disma Hardy and enjoyed them. But this latest book falls short. The characters, many of whom will be familiar to readers of his previous works, are at best caricatures in this book. There is very little character development and the plot is flimsy at best. Don't bother with this one. Instead go back and listen to some of his earlier works.
