Gods yes! From the start till the end, production for this book was awesome. From the *snap sizzle pop buzz* sound of the light sabre going live to screaming tie fighters to hissing blast doors opening and closing the book was filled with sounds that not only put you right in the middle of things, made it an experience that no movie can duplicate.
I don't know how he did it but the voices we all have come to associate the characters with, from Han Solo's drawl to luke's "aw shucks!" manerisms to even C3PO]s crisp brit accent, were all done remarkably well. I could have sworn they got the original actors to come in and did the lines.
I had waited till I finished all three books before writing this. In many ways, The Mistborn Series is like so many other "fantasy books" that start with a "prophesied hero" but don't let that fool you, its not what you think, this is evident by the time you reach the end of book one and start on book 2. Then Book 3 throws a wrench into what you thought you know and I have to say that when the end came, it was intelligent, not what you'd expected, sad and yet triumphant all at once.
It also really helped that the reader, Micheal Kramer did a wonderful job breathing life into each and every character, some even perhaps overly dramatically thickly, such as Breeze's character, but even so, it felt right. Those who are familiar with his readings of the Wheel of Time series will know what I mean, and you already probably smile when hearing that familiar voice.
All in all, 5 stars.
