Yeah, he's a story teller, but I finished the book with the same feeling that I have after lunch with an excessively disclosing, dysfunctional co-worker. I couldn't wait to get away and wanted to shake my head like an etch a sketch to clear out the visuals. I am disappointed and insulted by audible bringing this to suggested reading. Probably my worst audible experience to date. Run AWAY!!
NY'r has cut back on content over the last year. Fewer articles and writers are not bad but not up to NYs quality expectations.
I'll give the NY'r audible one more year- if it continues to shrink, journalistically and literally, I'll drop it next year.
For the most part, these are pros.
Ehhhh- pickpicket was an interesting listen.. everything else ZZZZZZZZ
Pull it together or lose subscribers.
Yes- I've been listening during a morning run, an afternoon drive, and an evening gardening session. Good stuff! Insprirational and fun
Travel, adventure, athleticism, and endurance.
had a hard time "putting it down" but also wanted to savor. A good combo
I listened to the story several times- a few chapters over and over. I loved the race prep and the visual impression of the villages.
It hit on my favorite topics; travel, adventure, running, family and wild animals. What could be better?!!
The scene on NY eve at the game preserve.... lions think of a tent no differently than a rock...
Fast & curious
Yes. The story kept my attention, characters were believable and memorable.
Edge is an overstatement, but it held my interest.
He adds some great voices and intonation.
I run and walk while I listen to stories...but I found myself on the other side of town in no hurry to get home.
As much as I enjoy Tina Fey, this was one where she didn't leave me wanting more. At some point an artist can become too much and this was it.
An actor wants to leave them wanting more...in this case I just wanted her to leave.
If this was available in an abridged format, I would recommend. The issues, commercial and philosophical are interesting, but over a 12-13 hour time frame were very redundant.
Nothing negative against narrator, but I would prefer the printed version so I could skim and be done with the story in an hour or two. This isn't a story to savor, but basic points are good conversation topics.
