This is the story of mankind clawing for survival, of mankind on the edge. The world outside has grown unkind, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they profess to want: They are allowed outside.

I really really enjoyed this book! I listen to a lot of books and listen to a fair amount of science fiction. I enjoyed incorrectly anticipating plot twists. It is a clever book with great characters and a unique story. I couldn't stop listening actually. The story is refreshing and creative. In other member reviews the narrator was found lacking. I felt her voice was in keeping with the "temperature" of the story. The overall narration was good and did not keep me from enjoying the story. I would highly recommend this story to anyone who loves science fiction.

No matter what he does or the decisions he makes, when death comes, Harry always returns to where he began, a child with all the knowledge of a life he has already lived a dozen times before. Nothing ever changes. Until now.As Harry nears the end of his 11th life, a little girl appears at his bedside. "I nearly missed you, Doctor August," she says. "I need to send a message." This is the story of what Harry does next, and what he did before, and how he tries to save a past he cannot change and a future he cannot allow.

Nathan says: "Read for the concepts and not for the characters"

I quite enjoyed this book. The premise was refreshing as it is (for me) a new take on time travel. Highly engaging and performed excellently.

I'm never disappointed with Mark's books. I like the way this one is branching out. The storyline includes the adventures of Auggie, the dog, and 'The Talbolt' storyline . The two aspects really let one gain a global feel for the events. Making it feel full and substantial. Plus, the humor is still there. Though this is the darkest Mr. T. yet seen. I can't wait for the next saga!

299 Days: The Preparation, the first audiobook in the 299 Days series, depicts the inner struggles Grant must face as he exists in a social system he recognizes as unsustainable and on the verge of collapse, but one in which he has built his life around. What begins as a return to his roots, self-sufficiency and independence, becomes a full blown move to prepare for what may come.

    Story

This is a seriously ridiculous book. I couldn't finish it as I got too fed up with the main character performing his "man responsibilities." A lot of the book focuses on acquiring guns and figuring out how to hide/justify acquisitions from his wife. It seems the other focus is on promoting the conservative values and beliefs. The political arguments were nott even well crafted and are generally laughable.
If I could talk to the main character/author my advice would be to quit being a deceitful d-bag and realize women are not only smart but carry firearms too. (And, yeah; I'm liberal, female, and own firearms. I just blew the authors' mind I'll bet!)
