  • Jeneration X: One Reluctant Adult's Attempt to Unarrest Her Arrested Development; Or, Why It'sNever Too Late for Her Dumb Ass to Learn Why Froot Loops Are Not for Dinner

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Jen Lancaster
    • Narrated By Jen Lancaster
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In Such a Pretty Fat, Jen Lancaster learned how to come to terms with her body. In My Fair Lazy, she expanded her mind. Now, the New York Times best-selling author gives herself - and her generation - a kick in the X, by facing her greatest challenge to date: acting her age. Jen is finally ready to put away childish things (except her Barbie Styling Head, of course) and embrace the investment-making, mortgage-carrying, life insurance-having adult she's become.

    T. Snyder says: "Jen Lancaster does it again!"
    "Just ok"
    Any additional comments?

This is a quasi-humorous book by an author who seems to really have nothing much to say other than to continually remind the reader/listener that while she used to be poor, she is now very successful. So, we are told about how she gets to go all over the country on her book tour, how she lives in an expensive house in the woods with rich neighbors down the street, about her estate planning problems, and on and on. Frankly, it was all very self-congratulatory and off putting. And... not particularly funny.

  • Around the World in 80 Days

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 37 mins)
    • By Michael Palin
    • Narrated By Michael Palin

In the autumn of 1988, Michael Palin set out from the Reform Club with an ambitious plan: to circumnavigate the world, following the route taken by Jules Verne's fictional hero Phileas Fogg 115 years earlier.

    K. Mckenna says: "A fantastic journey"

It's impressive that someone could go around the world and have so few interesting experiences on which to report. Only listeners who fantasize about dull and tedious travel on a cargo ship should bother listening to the tale of this pointless trip. Oh...and the trip was in 1987, so the whole thing feels very dated without being special.

  • One God, Three Faiths: Judaism, Christianity, Islam [Portable Professor]

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By F.E. Peters
    • Narrated By F.E. Peters

The covenant that God made with the patriarch Abraham forms the basis of the three religions that today enjoy the largest followings in the world: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Despite the many common bonds among them, however, the Abrahamic religions have had an extremely complicated relationship, frequently defined by conflict, over the course of millennia of coexistence.

    "No Faith Needed"

I really object to the criticsm of the first reviewer that this is a book on faith written by someone without faith. This is an evenhanded and fascinating review, comparison and contrast of the three referenced faiths, in a very good lecture format. The last thing in the world that I wanted was to have someone preaching a particular point of view to me. If you want to hear someone "take sides," then go to church. If you want to become more knowledgable and intellectually stimulated, then listen to this book.
