Andrew says: "A Wonderful Book 3 of 3"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I dont know if there was anything i would change, I really enjoyed the trilogy, enough to purchase all three books but there was just something missing or something not quite right that i cant quite put my finger on. It was entertaining though and i liked the idea and adapton of thought on what a changeling is etc

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ascend?

When Wendy started to understand her mother better and began to cherish their relationship

Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Was Ascend worth the listening time?

    Any additional comments?

I really really loved the art work on the covers, it is what initially lead me to read the first book

  • Entwined With You: Crossfire Series, Book 3

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 2 mins)
    • By Sylvia Day
    • Narrated By Jill Redfield
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires.... From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I also saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside - so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat. No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

AudioAddict says: "I would title it "Bored with You""
"Dissapointed as I loved the first two :("

It pains me to write anything even slightly negative about Sylvia Day as i think she is a fabulous author, however, for what ever reason, my greatest critisism stems from my overwhelming dissapointment in this installment.

The first two books were increadable, i loved them, listened to them multiple times, loved the characters and invested in them, they held just the right balance between storyline and sexual intrigue. I loved Gideons strength and dominance and ability to be vulnerable to Eva but to not be controlled by her. I loved Eva's strength, her love for Gideon, her loyalty to her family and friendships. In the third book however, Gideon lost all his strength, he spent the whole book chasing around after Eva, pandering to her every whim, losing all sense of self it would seem, even occupying the apartment next door? and then what is with the Corrin storyline and the sex tape?? a little much too much it would seem. It almost felt as though i was trapped in a bad episode of the young and the restless as aposed to a real life believable drama. I had loved this story for its realism, its relatability but what is next, a royal scandal or brett kline turning into a serial killer?? Im sorry to say but Gideon was pathetic in this novel and that crushed me. And Eva, was so needy and winey and self absorbed i actually couldnt listen to it all at once.

Where i think it went wrong for me, Although still an amazing writer, I really believe this book was a fluffer book, written to fill in a gap. I have heard that there is another two books to go and i cant possibly see why or how. If Gideon degrades any further im going to scream. The worst part for me though, was that in contrast to the other books, this one had far too much sex in it to the point it lost any effect or meaning and was just too much, it was way over done to fill in the pages.

I still believe in Sylvia Day though and i really hope that the next book, brings the storyline back off the ledge, saves Gideons masculinity and Evas likeability. I didnt even like Carey in this book with his twist. Will i put the next book on preorder like i did the first three, no. But when i am browsing and i see it listed after its release, i will read or listen to it and give the series one last chance....

The saving grace was Jill Redfield. I believe she is such a consumae orator. I love her work and would listen to anything she recorded. Please use her for more audio books as she does the characters justice.

  • Halfway to the Grave: Night Huntress, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 17 mins)
    • By Jeaniene Frost
    • Narrated By Tavia Gilbert
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership. In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires?

Stephenie says: "Great series. Worth every credit."
    "Surprisingly good and unexpectedly funny"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes i would. It is a very enjoyable read. I found myself spontaneously laughing when i wasnt expecting to and i genuinely felt for the characters, even the viscious vampires before they revealed their true colours. If i had to pick on anything it would be the typical girl afraid of love, pushes guy away theme but even with that i really loved the book. Oh, that and the voice for bones is really off putting. It does not sound attractive or masculine at all and it interfered with my connecting to Bones for that reason. I feel if i had read the book first, i would have given 5 stars.

What other book might you compare Halfway to the Grave to and why?

The True blood series because it is similar in tempo and atmosphere plus it features a love story with current themes mixed with the supernatural plus loads of action, killing of vamps and sex scenes.

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I thought her reading of the book in every single aspect aside from bones was brilliant. Her timing was great, her feel for the characters was great, she is really good at what she does. I just wish her voice for Bones was different as it was the only and the major flaw of my experience.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Wanna Shag?

    Any additional comments?

Great book, i look forward to the rest of the series, really great author but i may stick to reading the books for the remainder of the series to save my opinion of Bones as i really do like his character better in my head

  • Shiver

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Maggie Stiefvater
    • Narrated By David LeDoux, Jenna Lamia
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Every summer Sam spends a few precious months being human, until the cold causes him to shift to a wolf once again. Discover what happens when he meets Grace in this chilling romance.

FanB14 says: "Inventive Wolf YA Drama"
    "Expected more"
    What disappointed you about Shiver?

Based on how successful the novel has been, i expected more from it and that may have been my downfall. I just didnt feel that the characters or the story were organic. The mother for example, her character was not well developed and i felt the other characters fell into the same trap. It felt more as if it was written to contrive a rection from the readers rather than it came from a place inside the author.

Would you ever listen to anything by Maggie Stiefvater again?

I dont know. I did like the opening sequence but it lost me soon after that

Would you be willing to try another one of David LeDoux and Jenna Lamia ’s performances?

No. David read the part well but I found Jenna sounded far too young, even for the age of her character and it really threw me off. I felt like i was listening to a 12 year old.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Shiver?

It wasnt really that it needed to have scenes cut etc it was just really predictable, i didnt enjoy it at all and i usually get sucked in pretty early on but i struggled to finish the book and i didnt become attached to the characters as i usually do

    Any additional comments?

    I loved the cover

  • Wicked Cravings: The Phoenix Pact, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Suzanne Wright
    • Narrated By Jill Redfield
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Wolf shifter Jaime Farrow has a secret. And no one - not her Alpha, not her best friend, and most definitely not gorgeous Dante Garcea - can know the truth. She thinks keeping her little “problem” under wraps from Dante won’t be so tough; after all, he’s ignored her for years, despite her best attempts at flirtation. But though Jaime is determined to face her problem alone, nothing can stop her from wanting him.... As Beta, Dante is responsible for the protection and safety of his entire pack. If a wolf is hiding something that could endanger the others, it’s his business to know about it....

    Melanie says: "Wickedly Delicious"
    "Hits the Spot !! A+"
If you could sum up Wicked Cravings in three words, what would they be?

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dante is the embodiment of the perfect man. It isnt easy to pull off tears being a man and still be convincingly strong and deadly.

What does Jill Redfield bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jill Redfield is by far the best narrator that i have heard on Audible. Her voice is sexy, husky and relatable with varying tonalities to it dependent upon the character and circumstance. She is also able to read the part of the males convincingly,no fault i could find.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scene where Dante finally broke Jamie was the most moving because not only did he insinctively know it was the only way to do it but it got to him too, it was amazing.

    Any additional comments?

I loveeeeeeee Suzanne Wrights style of writing. It isnt easy to write the words she uses into a storyline and have it work the way she does. Its very entertaining, very moving, very well written. She has become one of my favourite authors of this genre and i cant wait to hear more from her in the future!
